I recently install the small disk provided with an English porgram about phonetics. I think if the parents have a resonably strong English education background, then the babies, toddlers, small children can learn the whole IPA and learn how to pronounce difficult words for themselves by sitting on their parents' lap.

The dictionary is one of the most famous of the 2 brands available everywhere. Just go to the back of the dictionary and you will know.

Sorry, it's an Intermediate Learner's Dictionary. If you are using an Advanced or Contemporary, you can't find the disk.

Besides, very old dictionaries of course do not come with a disk.

There are clips in which you can see the shape of the mouth, the length, the force that go with every phonetic symbol. Extrememly useful when you bother whether your child will grow up speaking Fillipino English when you can't tell the difference of your sweet Fillipino's 'top' from 'dop'.

Again. I'm not a sales. So, I'm not going to say the name of the dictionary.

I guess every parent wants something reasonable, affordable and doable at home so that they can teach their children good English.

Hi twokidsmum,

Because of the numerous personal messages sent to me, I'd rather have the information posted here.

The disk is a gift attached at the back of the dictionary. SO, if the dictionary costs you $250, Then it's $250 = a dictionary + a disk.

I tried to run the program today without the diak but it doesn't work. SO I think you must have the disk in the drive to run the program.

As to the quality of the phonetics lessons on the disk, it's quite outstanding except that there are one ot two minor mistakes. I suggest parents using this program should have a reliable dictionary at their fingertips.

My domestic helper is correcting her pronunciation like 'keyboard', 'stand' pronounced as 'sdand' instaed of 'stand'. She loves it. I love the effects afterwards on my son.
