i am in canada, just a question, when will you send your kid to canada. if planning for university, i think no problem, depends on the result of the exam. but if you want to send your kid grade one to grade 12, it is better for your kid to know french. french is a must (one of the lessons) at school between grade 1 to 12.

ICAS in Kowloon Shing is a international school which run canadian system. The comments are quite well

Dear Connie,

sorry, it should be CAIS. The web. site is http://www.cais.edu.hk
My friend daughter is studying in this school. She said this school is very good. The teaching are nice. Not very expensive. The kinder. --$23200 per year. However, base to the Canadian system, the kinder may start at 5 years old and only 2 years kinder life.
There is a introduction to this school in the Preschool magazine. No.26.feb.2004. You can find it in 'HO flower' shop. I am thinking to put my son in this schhol or in Christian international school.

I read that this school only starts from K2, is it difficult to apply? any kindergartens (of K1 students) it normally prefers? Do they have interviews?

Dear Heidi_Mom,
Since my son is only 2 years old, I haven't apply yet. There is only 2 years kinder life. If you want to start at 3 years old. You have to find the other school first. I will apply HKPS first. As I know, students in CAIS can choose Fench or Mandarin for the second language lesson. It is because some places in Canada use Fench.

thx for your reply hangkeelong, my daughter is also 2 yr old (in Sept). I'm planning to apply St Catherine for kindergarten. BTW, what is HKPS stands for?! Is it the HK Preschool in Kowloon Tong? I'm thinking of that one too (since a lot of moms here mention/recommend this school), but I don't have much info

quebec is a province that uses french. as of other provinces, there will be bigger chance for appliants to apply for a job if you know both french and english, the employer will of course choose the one who knows both. it seems that the government position requires both languages as basic requirement now or started some times later, not so sure.
so if you want your kid to stay in canada, better choose french as a second language. or you can choose mandarin if he will be coming back to hk after studying in canada.
