any mother, have negative feedback/comment on Kingston ?? Sounds that it's a perfect school !!!

Any drawbacks ?? There must have some area for improvement ??

Thanks for your sharing.  In fact, do you know what's the proportion of cantonese/english teaching in HKPS? As for the english teacher, is she a native speaker? sorry for so many questions but I'm really run out of time to sort out all these.

Open day in November. You'd better call them for an appointment to show around the school.

I'm also new in this topic.  My daughter joins the Anfield playgroup since April this year.  They mainly use English and also have the Mandarin session during class.  Cantonese speaking is prohibited inside the campus.  I personally like their activities, each as cooking session (of course the simpliest one) and they got field trip.  Last time my daughter went to the Bontonical Garden in HK side.  They also have the swimming session (mainly playing) for the kids.

This summer she's going to join the summer course and they will go to either Kardoorie Farm or Ocean Park for outing this time.

However, the princial is going to leave the school by the end of this year and I'm not sure if there will be any changes after then.

My nephew is studing in Tutor Time, maybe the teachers are OK but they definitely don't have such kind of activities.

Hi all,

My daughter has attended the 1-year old class and has just finished the 2-year old class in Kingston.  The school is excellant.  Apart from the artwork acitivities and play time everyday, there are two circle times everyday, one by the English teacher and one by the Mandarin teacher.  There are different topics (such as body parts, transportation and animals etc.) from time to time and during the circle times, topic-related words, songs and materials will be introduced to the kids and the kids will find it very interesting.  The teacher and student ratio is low and every kid will have the chance to communicate with the teachers in English and Mandarin and therefore, they can pick up the languages easily.  If money is not of your concern, Kingston is highly recommended.

Hi Che,

I have no idea on how long the free play time is in the 2-yearold class since unlike the 1-year-old class, no parent is allowed to stay with the kids.  However, I notice that my little girl has learnt a lot from the school and after spending two years in Kingston, she can speak fluent English with complete sentences and good pronunciation.  

As my husband prefers local school to international school, my daughter will be going to the K1 class in a local kindergarten in the coming Sept. and probably she will go to its "one dragon" primary school  in the future.  Actually, I have been struggling for long time as to whether we should let her stay in Kingston and I am still wondering whether I have made the right choice.  

How about you?  Are you going to let your daugther go to the K2 and even K3 class in Kingston?

My daughter will start the 1year class next month.  You have mentioned that your daughter may speak good English but how about Mandarin?  As I am a full time working mother so my maid is the one who is going to attend the class with her.  Since she doesn't know mandarin so I am afraid my daughter will not learn a lot Mandarin.  May I know your case?
In house which language that you are using to speak with your daughter?  As my maid and I only speak English with her so she can't understand Cantonese now.  Also my husband and I, both decided to let her study in local school, we are thinking to let her change back to a local nursery when she reaches 2 so she might learn some Cantonese there.  Otherwise she has no chance to pass the entry exam of a local school.  What do you think?  Do you think I may let her stay with Kingston for 2 years or just 1 year is better?  Welcome all the parents to share their valuable experience with me.

As my husband and I can only speak little Mandarin, I don's know how proficient my daughter's Mandarin is.  But I notice that she can understand what the program is about when we watch the Asiaplus channel and she does speak Mandarin sometimes.

I'm also a working mother and can't spend too much time with my daughter.  It is my maid who  attended the 1 year old class with my little girl and I attended the class twice only.  Don't worry about your daughter.  She will pick up the Mandarin very quickly and follow all the instructions from the Mandarin teacher and very soon you may find that she can even say "resent" in Mandarin during the roll call by the Mandarin teacher.

As my daughter spent most of the time with the maid, we found that although she undertood Cantonese, she spoke English for most of the time.  Since we believe that mother tongue is very important to a child, we insisted on speaking Cantonese to her at home and since then, her Cantonese progressed quickly and had no problem when she attended the interviews at the local kindergarten.  Gradually, we even found that she could do the translation for Grandma and the maid since they couldn't communicate with one another.
