My kid has attended both 1) & 2). For beginners, I would recommend 1) in Mongkok. They have a big area for playing chess before and after the lessons. Many kids are there at weekends to play chess. This can arouse your kid's interest and improvement will be quicker. You may progress until your kid reaches around 5k (chess level). Choose a course on Sat or Sun. At that time, it may be better to seek around a higher quality teacher with high 段.

About 香港兒童棋院

My kid only went there a few times to attend one day course. This one should have the largest market share of students in HK learning 圍棋, and has largest no. of teachers. I think they also have quality teachers for beginner up to intermediate levels. Just one drawback: the chess room for playing chess before and after the lessons is too small. Not many students stay around to play.
