I observed from the Year 6-7 assessment timetable that there are 3 Arts subjects (Geography, History and Chinese History) vs only 1 Science subject apart from Chinese, Eng and Maths.

It seems imbalance and gives me an impression that CKY puts more emphasis on Arts subjects than on Science.  

I have the following puzzles (based on the mentality of the traditional educational system). What if a student who is more interested or talented in Science than in Arts? Would it be a disadvantage if one wants to pursuit Engineering or Medical field in future. Or this mixture is the best to suit IB in future?

I hope the circumstances is only the result of small class number per Year in Y6 & 7 and CKY will achieve a more balance picture when the number of class per year grows in future.

Would any one please enlighten me? Or any can draw comparison against other International Schools running IB.  It is important to plan the path when our children reach upper years.

Guess the general science will be spinned off to phy, chem, and bio in the upper grades.

I wonder why no 'Economics' in the syllabus.

CKY parents shouldn't be worry too much, see below
IGCSE syllabus:

學生可選修十個科目，當中包括必修科目（英文、數學及中文）與選修科目（包括自然科學、人文學科與選修組別）；學生必要從該三個選修組別內各挑一至三項.

必修科目：英國語文、中國語文、數學
選修科目：自然科學： 物理、化學、生物
                人文學科：地理、歷史、經濟
選修組類：設計與科技、藝術、音樂、資訊科技
BTW,  year 6 and 7 students already take the DT exam (design and technology) before the assessment week.
