Hi Parents,

Have your kids studied in Kumon? Any comments? Is it suitable for gifted child?

I heard that it is good for child on Maths basic concept and enchance their Maths foundation.

If your son is not gifted in Logic, Kumon good for him. If he is gifted in Logic, go for something more challenging and interesting.

Also, some good gifted programs are expensive, like EPGY. But you need to bear in mind, EPGY, only provide a platform for your son to learn Maths quicker than HK syllabus. You stiil need to assist him to pick up the content to certain extent. There teaching method is not brilliant.

You can also go to the intrnet and you can find many materials to teach your kid by yourself. Its more economical, but you don't have any certificate to prove his achievement.

Thank you for your advice. My daugther is K3 now (5 years old). How to run with EPGY? is it download the paper from websit? How much the course? Do you mean that Kumon course is boring and mechanical? Do you know any other Maths course in HK which is suitable for gifted child in kindergarten stage?

Learning Division in P1 Kumon Math

This is a good method for self learning. My kid's classmate has learned Division in age 5. so cool!

If they work hard , they can learn faster and billiance.

He is a very clever boy.  My son got a lot of compleditiors.  One hill is higher than other hill.  In 2008. there are many intelligent kids in China and we have to upgrade our sys. ,otherwise we will be a blind frog in a hole.

Hope the govt can upgrade the sys. of maths and english.
Grammer is very important in foundation edu.

My brother's son will go  International school for study and learn chinese culture and mental training in China.

Which school is better for age10? He follows some bad guys and play online games with his classmates all the time.  School enviorment is so important. Even in which school, there are some bad students who from some special background families. He is so clever but we want save him from estate gov't school.  I think he must leave the school and learn the international sys.

I think his IQ is higher than others, he knows how to communicate well and quick reponses .  Those kids create a lot of statment to protect themself.  Some teachers said they are naughty but they are intelligent.

Math Smart 2 - pulished by popular book canada

IF you son can sit and do homework by himself, Kumon is good . Otherwise you may buy some exe such as MATH SMART 2 Published by Popular Book Company (Canada Ltd.

The content is colourful and funny. I got a lot of exes and like shopping in book shops to find some interesting exes for my son.

Math Smart in 90days start from grade 2 or above.cost only $4x ...

Kumon is a self studying at home everyday.
My son's classmates are all over their grading in P1.  Superboy. That why my son told me his classmates are so clever.  He likes to play with them and discuss IQ question everyday.

Please love your neighbour and respect others.  Someone.

Someone always has negetive thinking , we can accept your opion and say thank you for your comand.

so poor!  Please stand up higher and look around the world, you will learn a lot .  We are getting old and our kids will be an adult one day.  How to give them a possitive thinkings and good training method .  Refer to our Tranditional and a book is good for you "

resent"  How to changel our future!

When I was young , I want to be an astonant.  Now I love freedom and do something I want.  Time dont wait for you.  How long do you have? 20 years, 30 years, or 50 years. Do something good for our kid's in the future.
Build more learning english secoundary/colledge or university  for our kids.  To build a beautiful green gardens for young er /older people .  To get a healthy and enjoy our life.

我個仔都係我自己教，什麼珠心算、公文都無給他去學。如果真係數學天分較好，其實教兩教他也會懂，即使係較抽象的概念。

當我發現他數學能力不錯時，我當然有點興奮，於是就按照他的理解力去教，就好似教其它小朋友無異，只是沒有依據一般年齡的程度而已。
三歲時，我俾佢自已睇下數學教育vcd、etv，佢自己都睇得明。但到四歲教到要寫複雜列式的異分數加減時，則要講解多幾次佢先明。即使明了，過一陣子又忘了(因為很少做練習，唔想佢咁細就操練佢，而且，要列三四行式，他睬你都傻，去玩好過

)

因此，我一直很少給他做練習，佢明白左就罷就。教下又停下，因為我無乜耐性，只要唔係一教即明，我就會好快停下來，等過一段時間再試。佢可以理解的我才教。

只要隨便係坊間買本小學數學練習書，如數學xx分呀、學林等，自己跟著教程去教便可。

不過，到佢k3時，我幾乎停了下來一整年無再教佢數學，因為他kick左係分數乘除上，容易跟分數加減混淆，概念唔係太穩固。

直到上小一(當時還未夠六歲)，我才間唔中再給他自己做點學林數，佢唔識的我再教，當然，因為他耐無掂數，之前他懂的，又要複述一兩遍，不過有底好易上手，兼且發覺他理解能力比一年前又高了不少。再教時大家都不會費力。

今年佢讀小二，學校很好，俾佢跳科讀小四數學，雖然他仍覺得好容易，但這卻是好機會給他重溫和做做練習。明年升小三，如唔影響學校行政，他數學可以跳去小六。如是，那就不會妨礙他在數學方面的頭腦發展，又不會浪費他白坐在小二數學課堂裡，我又可以省點力氣，但他小三以後又如何呢？現在還未想著如何安排，到時再算。或許在家給他自修中學的數學(其實已經買左，他也常想偷來試做，但我一定要他完成了小六的課程才可以掂)，或許買一些坊間的奧數練習給他吧﹗

不過，佢最鍾意的活動唔係數學，還有好多其它的，所以我唔會特別逼他多把時間放在此一科目上，佢亦唔會比你逼得到。

總的來說，除非小朋友的能力已到了一個你不能再教的地步(如四歲已懂微積分

)，否則，真的自己教也教不完了啊﹗
又最重要的，是必須順著他的能力程度去教，而不是揠苗助長，否則大家都會辛苦架﹗

##不過，自己教有個問題係﹕因為我唔係數理之人，唔識用一些唔傳統的教數方法去激發他的數學思維和對數學的熱愛，只係好死板的跟著課程去教(至多係佢細時買副分數玩具、七巧板和玩具天秤比佢玩)...。不過，也唔見得珠心算和公文做到吧？

SELF MOTIVATION METHOD.

i LIKE THE STUDY ENVOIRMENT COZ HE CAN FINISH 100 QUESTIONES IN FEW MINS. HE DO ALL QUESTIONS BY HIMSELF AND COUNT THE TIME. I DONT HAVE ANY TROUBLE ON HIS HOMEWORK SINCES HE WAS AGE 4.

I THINK IT CAN BUILD UP THEIR QUICK SOLUTION AND MOTIVATION.

MAY BE SOME KIDS ARE NOT SUITABLE , I AGREED
