My son studied in an activities-based kindergarten for 3 yrs. There was no dictation/test/exam,no text books......
He is now in P1,most of his classmates are from traditional kinders. He has just finished the first assessment in school. Even though he hasn't got any experience on "test",the results is very encouraging.
The pt is :what kind of learning experience you want your kids go through in his early childhood?
I am also waiting for the school allocation result at the end of this month. But I have started to give a little bit more extra exercise to my daughter. So far, she enjoys very much. I hope she will keep on.
By the way, we can exchange our experience here. Ha! Ha!
I think that the activities organised by outsiders are not with high quality. You have to choose carefully. Besides, the children are very tied after school and it is difficult for them to concentrate. And when the children grows up, they will learn music or some other activies. For children, it is too busy if you arrange the school and activities as you have mentioned.
Thanks for reply. However, I didn't mean to join the activities organised by the outsiders. And I didn't mean the activities are for Primary school students.
What I mean is choosing the traditional kinder and PARENTS can take their kids to outdoor activities during weekends and leisure time. Moreover, the potential courses like learning from activities are taken by parents only, children no need to attend. I think it will works. Not necessary to find the activities based kinder and create homeworks by parents when they are in K2 or 3. The kid will know studying is at school and playing time is with family. Anyone agree?

主題教學 is not equal to 課外活動. The role of teacher is very important. As parents, it is difficult for parents to replace the role of teachers in 主題教學. They have some skills and knowledge to lead the project. The students need to spend several weeks to explore the project and students and teachers are interactive. This is difficult to do at home. Besides, I cannot find a centre apart from kinders which are good in doing the project approach.
One can find some reference books and visit some kinders to understand more about project approach to see whether they are suitable for each parent.
