在港完成中五,想到美國升學,Community College & High
School 如何區分? 是否兩者也可完成Degree, 有可分別, 那種較好。

F5 graduate should consider Community College or University, not High School. Community College is a 2-year program, in which, you can transfer to a University for the 3rd year onwards to obtain a degree. Community College is generally less expensive compared to that of a University.

通常在港中五畢業的學生, 他們都會選擇 CC的,原因是既省時間, 也省金錢, 除非你是美國公民, 你就可以入 grade 11 or 12 的 government school, 否則就要讀 private school, 那麽價錢就貴了, 再加埋之後四年, 就和味嘞! 如是兩年 CC 加兩年 U, 你預計要 150萬就畢業, 相反 4 年 U, 就約 200萬左右, 再加埋 Grade 11 & 12, 都好滋味o
其實中五畢業理應讀 CC, high school 的課程是屬於高中課程,如果你完成中五, 去到美國又要再讀 high school, 那麼除了浪費時間又會令學生有 repeat 的感覺 o

本人一家張會移民美國,女兒讀中5 會考,問讀CC & high school分別, 是否美國公民才可以入 grade 11 or 12
移民第一年是否要交學費上大學?
我想女兒讀 11 &12 班先 ,因不用交學費和學英文.

personally I would say.. depends on your daughter's english level..
sure if she doesn't reach the standard.. she needs to study in high school
F5 in hk only equal to grade 11 in US. however, if you don't think that she did that great.. repeat Grade 11 will be better.. at least, not that free, plus she can learn the culture and the way the others talk and do, not like isolated as a dumpy .
Government support 12 years free education to all resident.. green card holder as well. but if she goes to study in CC (unless she is gifted or she does great in HKCEE).. you are going to pay for the fee. 1st year of her residency in US .. she is counted as overseas student.

多謝解答,我時常係美國媽媽會見你幫大家解決移民問題.女兒英文一般,是否移民到達美國,才可以找學校呢?要在香港上英文班先,學好英文
呢?美國學校什麼時候開學,辦理入學手續 . 不能在香港溫定學校嗎.謝謝

如果你系移民身份
你可以入讀 high school.
CC 第一年系無政府補助﹐  要交貴學費。
就算你女兒英文一般﹐  我都吾太 suggest repeat Grade 11. 一黎你上到 CC﹐  距會評估你英文屬於咩程度﹐  甘你由適合既程度開始讀起應該系吾會有問題。二黎﹐  repeat grade 11, 數學個 D 科目就嫌淺﹐  歷史政治個 D 就嫌太難﹐  結果就拖低左 D GPA。如果都系打算讀完 high school 入 CC 先﹐  甘就吾好浪費多一年時間黎 repeat Grade 11.
最後就考完會考先﹐  黎到搵呢邊證明你既成績已經 qualify high school 畢業。甘就可以直接上 CC﹐  一前一後省左 2 年時間﹐  系 CC 讀多 2 堂英文都夠晒拉 ~

Please consider the info from 大豬既老婆 as she is the expert on finding school. the reason I suggest you that way because I am afraid if your daughter is studying in chinese High school, if she is studying in English high school in hk, her English base may not be that bad..
Also, as suggested, let her take the HKCEE, and bring the result over, and see if she needs to study in High school or CC.
it is true, the maths in Grade 11, will be very easy for your daughter.
but for other subjects, she may have a hard time.
Public School starts at anytime round the school year (not at end of June to end of August), therefore, your duaghter will just add into class. Once you landed, you just need to call 311, let them know your zip code, then they will tell you which school she will attend. (for more info about how to apply it, please go to USA mami forum, I will answer over there..ok?)
Government know that immigrant can not choose to land in US at every September, because your visa only good for 6 months. so, don't worry, once you land, in that week, you can go and get your application done.
they will need to see your child on the date of application, and you need to hand in proof of address, your duaghter's passport/greencard/ birth certificate..such and such, so you can not do it in Hong Kong. remember her immunization card is very important bring it over, other wise, she is going to have a hard time to re-schedule for all shot before she starts school. they need it "up to date".
