這是昨天中文老師給我們的email,有些websites可能大家都有用:
Dear all,
Thanks for taking your time off to attend the PTM yesterday, I believe you had a general idea of the syllabus and expectation of each teacher.
During my presentation, we have discussed that:
?the students of p.6? in general have a positive attitude towards learning; ?we have to create an environment for them to speak/ read/ write/ listen more to Chinese Language; ?but, all of us are facing a problem: suitable Chinese books for their age group and interest are not easily available, they think it either too difficult or too iddy?
But, although it is not too easy a task to look for these materials, it is not an excuse not to read or to avoid picking up a Chinese language book.
We also have agreed to the suggestion that we will source suitable and interesting Chinese language materials, on the internet as well as in the market and that I will do class discussions and activities based on these materials. If you do come across any, please feel free to share with the rest of us.
Yet, if we were to do so, it will mean we will have to set aside some class time for this. As such, we will have to encourage students to prepare themselves for lessons, meaning, I hope they will read through the textbook and check up meaning of the words prior to the start of the lesson, so that it will be easier for them to follow through the lesson and that we could have more time to do other activities.
What to do during self-study? Let your child
?read through the passage, circle the difficult words, and try to guess the meaning; grasp the main theme of the whole passage:
What is the writer trying to tell us?
?check up on the difficult words after reading, see if his/ her uess?is correct; ?learn (discuss, if you are guiding your child) how the words could be used by referring to the dictionary or newspapers.
For a start, here are some websites that I find pretty useful:
Chinese search engine: www.baidu.com (China)
http://edu.ocac.gov.tw/lang/chineselearn/ (games, nice graphics, with a odern?outlook. Traditional Chinese. You can navigate the website first. If you are surfing with you child, you might explain to them the simplified version or let them do the guess.)
www.zuowen.cn (compositions)
www1.moe.edu.sg/dir/cl (Ministry of Education Multimedia Resource)
zaobao.com (online newspaper, Singapore)
www.bbc.co.uk/chinese (news and current affairs)
http://www.aies.cn/ (you can do conversion of traditional Chinese to simplified Chinese and vice versa. Good tool.)
Ok, that all for now. I always believe learning is a process, though grades is important, it not just all about it. Most of all, it is what we have learnt and how we enjoy this process.
I sincerely hope your child will have a wonderful school year ahead and a happy teenage life.
Cheers, |
