Dear Janet,

My son is accepted by KCIS, P.5, and will start the new page on Sept, 07. Actually, I also know a little about this school.

I can share as far as I knew, there are many other foreign children studying in this school, that I think is good to a child to know more about different culture and his English should be pushed well. It's Manadrin training is famous in H.K., I think it is a must in the coming ever changing society. IS is established on 1993, and the 1st GCE result should be known this year. Mrs Daniel said KCIS will adopt IB in matriculation. The draw back is KCIS is not a formal IS school, I'm also worrying if the teachers will change a lot. I don't know how caring are the teachers, but my feelings is KCIS is quiet warm. The school has not many facilities, you can search it's web site or visit it.

my kid has been in this school for almost 3 years. The teachers so far are quite friendly and caring and has good connection with the parents. Learning envir is good especially for mandarin. Since, it is an IS, english is still the first and most important language to learn. Campus facilities is of course not as well equipped or modernized as some other IS but provided just enough to serve it's purpose. Teaching method is all the same for IS, depending on the curriculum that this school follows e.g. British/Amer/Can/Sing etc or whether the school has adopted the IB approach.

Hi Lureen

Thans for your comment. I would like to know if the children are talking in English during the recess time and lunch hour or they only speak English in the lesson only.
How about their English Book? The standare will follow Birtish or Canada.

Do you thaink that their Chinese stardard is similar to Local school ?

Any comments on Tsung Tsin International Junior School Section? How do this compare to KCIS?

KCIS follows the British curr. Mandarin level is roughly one level lower than the local school. Still, you cannot expect them to have similar standard after the primary years has finished. You need more practise at home. This also depends on the child's interest and ability too.

English is used in the classroom but kids may use their mother tongue during playtime. Still english is used most of the time and cantonese be heard sometimes. I'm sure the situation will not be the same in P3 or P4 onwards.

The books used in classroom are mostly library story books but they share common reading practice books, Oxford tree, for take-home-reading. This will start from P1 only.

May I know that which school is your child studying now and why do you change the school?

My child will have interviewed on next week for year 5 also. I still can't make decision that change or no change the school.

My child is studying in a famous local school in Wanchai. He feels boring in the class and always complain the teachers repeat and repeat the content of book. Many teachers aren't so responsible to teach the students as they expect all students have already learned the books by private tutors.
My husband and I teach my child very hard as my child refuses the private tutors. We feel exhausted but no result from my child. That's why we apply another school for my child.

May I know that what procedure in the interview?
Is it difficult?

This is nearly the end of the P.1 school year of them.  They will see their new class teacher next week.

As per your memory, do you know the prastice of the teacher.  Is it the same teacher teaching the same level every year?  that means P. 1 teacher teaches P. 1 every year and P. 2 teacher teaches P. 2 every year and so on.

I wonder this year only 2 classes for P. 1 and 3 classes for P. 2.  that means 3 teachers for P. 2, right?  How they will arrange the classes.

I asked the teacher and they said they will let the whole class together for P. 2.  Except some boys they always play fighting games or too friendly with each other and would like to seperate them in order to more concentrate to class.

That means they might be some changes, hope it is not  much?

time flies, almost end of sch year.

No. of classes varies each year. Teachers movt from grades also varies but not much. Glad that the mobility of teachers is not high. My kid loves to see some of these familiar faces all the time, like Miss Law and Mrs. Wyatt. Teachers can be promoted to higher grades as per their performances, qualification, abilities, willingness etc. So some may remain in the same grade and some may have promoted. I just hope this coming teacher shall be just as good as the others I've met.

Classes should all be promoted together as a grp supposingly but somehow there shall be some strange arrangements. This also happen last year and some parents really didn't understand the rationale behind. However, no changes can be made unless the child cannot adapt to the new class grp.

Did you go see their performances on Monday ? Should be their last and final one in this campus, I guess.

Tsung Tsin IS section uses a local schooling system but adapting an international approach (IB) to it. Their homework load is a lot more. The situation would be very much similar to Victoria but has more homework/test burden. They request a more tougher role on student.

I think some parents have forum on the local school section. You may go and check it up.

HAHA, you reply sooo quick.

no la, i just gone to saw my son's star of the week last Mon. and can't take leave on that day. But, my son got fever afterward and i need to pick him up, so still go to the school at that day.

Actually i'm afraid my son will go to one of the exsiting P.2 teacher's class. As you know, my son gone to P. 2 for two months and found out that he is more suitable for P. 1 at that moment. That 2 months really made him felt not comfort and both my honey and me even my son don't like that teacher. soooo

really let us felt that teacher is earn $$ only, don't have the heart to teaches kids.

i had talked to Ms. L and she said will inform the Mrs. D. Yi, your son don't like Ms. S....?

what an unlucky encounter ! Then what was the name of the teacher, see if my kid will be that unlucky. Cross our fingers and hope not !

My kid loves all the teachers and the asst. teachers but his class teacher is the one he sees often so he'll then begin to miss the others that are no longer teaching him.

It's more or less the same as Victoria. These 2 share the same approach but the latter is not as tough. This sch also have japanese and french in their curr.
