ESFTY Kinder 97% to ESF primary

My son studies in ESFTY. The teacher told me that about 97% students of TY entered the ESF primary. The least is including some students who entered other international school.

my son studies ESFTY in pm session, he always speaks English at home although our family spoken cantonese mainly.  I have a neighbour whose daughter studies ESFTY in am session, however, her daughter said that they communicated mainly in cantonese at school.

In ESF, A.M session is always saved for English kids, for local/Chinese as 1st language kids will get in P.M. session even you holds a British passport. However, this is just a rumour. my son studies in pm session, his class have six foreigners classmates.

My boss's son was studied in  TY ESF Kinder for K1 and K2. Finally, his son is failed to entry ESF primary school. My boss told me that only 30% TY ESF kinder is accepted by ESF primary school. His son is now studying in Phoenix.

My daughter entered ESFTY am class last Easter. We're local Chinese. I think am or pm just depends on parents' choice. As the am starts quite early (8:30), so it isn't favoured by those who live far away. In her class, allthe k2 students could enter ESf Primary and her teacher said there's about 95% could make it.

It's good to hear that the rate of entering ESF primaries is so satisfactory. I hope my son will be able to go to one of the ESF primaries after finishing K1 & K2 at ESF Tsing Yi.

Hi Heratang,
As you said 95% ESF TY go to ESF primary, does this included to the Phoenix in MOS?  If it does, the % doesn't sound very good???  Am I right?

Yes, I think the % includes those to Phoenix. The % is really good, as they enters K2, the school starts to prepare them for the interview.

I submitted application for my son who was born in Dec 2002, received a call from the school today and said if there's space available the principal might call me after new year for an appointment.  I asked the lady if the waiting queue is long, she said no.  This is rather surprising to me as I thought ESFTY is popular, can parents with kids in ESFTY give me some comments whether your kids enjoy this school?  Thanks.

My girl was born in March 2002 and started her school in April 2005. She loves her school very much. ESF doesn't focus much on academic but they enourage the kids to use English to communicate with others. Everyday she just plays and plays. But she can speak English quite well. She can now distinguish the sounds of s, t, d, p, b, a, e, i, o, u... etc. And she can write her name pretty well.

Dear All,

My girl was born in 2002, Aug. She was now studying in St. Johannes kindergarten. According to the school fee is around HKD 4500, almost same as ESF, therefore me and my husband decide to send her to ESFTY . And hoping that she can get into Beacon hill Primary in the future.

My concern is: Me and my husband are not 100% English speaker. Therefore I am afraid I cannot help my daughter on her homework in the future. And since she speak in English mostly after going to international school, I am concern that we will have a gap between us.

Can anybody give me some advice. Should I change school for her. What about the Chinese standard in this kind of school. Do they know how to write?

Did you send application form to ESFTY for your little girl?  I just received a call from the kindergarten offering a place to my boy, I will have a meeting with the principal on Monday and can decide then if I will accept the offer.

Is your son apply for the Apr Intake?  That why you have an interview that early.  I called the school very early before they said we will have an interview in Apr for the Sept Intake.   Thanks!

It is for Jan intake, my son was born in 2002.  Due to personal reason we declined the offer.
