灣仔網 B1尾、B2頭女仔,請問有否建議?請問知道大抗真光DSE的成績嗎? 睇post係1B, 但朋友話d坑真d成绩差咗, ...
True Light is rather with its DSE results given that at S1, mostly not the most achieving girls admitted to the school.
To me, the banding is meaningful in a way that it somewhat tells you the average banding of the students get admitted into the school. However, once students study in secondary schools, the academic performance in secondary may not be the same as in primary schools, i.e. the whole picture can be changed substantially across 6 years of study. There're schools that can confidently recruit Band 1a, b students, however in the end the DSE results are not as good as it appears to be.
What matters most in Secondary schools is whether a student can choose their preferred electives which will directly affect their University admission. If a student is on the very lowest band among others when they admitted to a secondary school, this tells you she's not as competitive at the entrance level; if his/her performance is not improved, then this will affect her choices of subjects in F4. But students can always change the situation by significantly improve themselves in secondary schools.
