Other facts:
1, Home location. Closer to the school or in some "high class" area may score some points.
2, Parents' job. Sometimes schools prefer full time mothers, some prefer both parents to be professionals. Teachers parents score more points.
3. Gender of children. Some parents think their little girl has done so well in interview but do not get accepted. However, schools cannot take too many girls and too few boys. Therefore a boy who performs less well than a girl, the boy may get accepted but not the girl. Understand?
4. Month of birth ( well you all know why very clearly)
5. Family background, Some schools do prefer children with another nationality besides Chinese, it usually means the child may speak another language fluently(usually English). That aids to raise the average English standard among students.
6.Politeness and smiles from children and a positive attitude of parents during interview (VERY IMPORTANT the teacher has to feel right with the PARENTS, if you are being cocky, even your child is doing all tasks, sorry you are half way out)
7. Religious reason
8. a.m. or p.m. preference. Yes, choosing p.m. class do give your kid higher chance to get in because of less competitors.
* I worked in childhood education for 10 years, hold many interview with kids, have two children of my own now
Hope that helps
