Although I don't like the abc vs. xyz discussion, it is the simplest format of any comparison research.
I do learn one thing from the latest abc vs, xyz type discussions, not only this discussion, but also other similar discussions in EK, both for primary and secondary schools. The learning is that you can judge the schools in questions by reading the responses from their parents.
With the Rule of different ruler scale still applies, because my apple is not necessary others apples. Then the next important question asked should be; what are the values of education of my child's future fellow student's parents? It is undoubtedly affecting my child's development as well because my child will spend many years with children being affected by parents with that kind of value systems. Then such discussions do offer a mean or as least some indication to learn those parents' views, only those were in discussions, not only in education but also in many other ways.
Then I need to be thankful to all these discussions, even it is usually uncomfortable to read those abc vs. xyz, I must admit it is an useful tool to analysis who were the current parents or even myself.
Last but not least, I do feel we, as parents, are behind our children when comparing with their behaviour in 名校 secrets. Or, sadly, when in the processes of growing up, with all those competitive pressures in the society, slowly have changed us all.
