I thought the EE option is no longer available and that other taking two languages at subject A level, one can also take one lang A and then take a Group 3 or 4 subject in a language other than the language A one.

I have the same question. I guess they make their students do EE in English.
I can't imagine English B students can write a good EE. Serious moderation is needed.

Is there any effect on university application? For example, a 43 student taking Eng B vs a 42 student taking Eng A? That is, is taking both Eng A and Chi A essential?

They need to sit for IELTS and TOFEL as to fulfill language requirement first, then all depends on university assessment and program's language requirement.
Ironically, they play around technicality, like CUHK will favour bilingual diploma holder even the student only has English B.

Thanks all for your information. For local parents without many resources (like can only afford a few thousand dollars per month only) but want to take the IB route, local schools such as Logos look like good choices. We may choose Eng A if the school can provide but Chi B instead. I want to know the results of similar schools like Creative and Choi Kai Yau. Are they released yet? But if my kid is not too good at Eng literature, choosing CUHK while studying Eng B can do.

I share with your view.

But when I checked with the local universities (pls refer to the thread quoted by poonseelai above), even for law faculty, most of them do not see the differences in English A and English B.

If we play the tactics to take English B in order to attain higher scores, it may be risky at the final day when the programme director is aware of the differences.

Tactics in choosing high school courses and choosing universities are extremely important. The tactics should be increasing students options and not limiting their options. And at the moment, there is no choice for students to take English A, and that is what I think very unfair for the students
I did raise this concern to other Logos parents, but it was not accepted by them apparently.
With this year's good results, I think it is more difficult for the school to change this policy.
To my understanding, the school is more concern on the number of students getting into a degree programme than the types of courses and universities that the students are pursuing.
