想問問, phonics是否不跟alphabetical order教?
因N1教緊/b/, /m/, /d/.
phonics係咪有自己一個教法?

Hi Cow1303! I am no expert in phonics. Just searched from the internet:

"The Jolly Phonics program teaches five basic skills for reading and writing. The five basic skills are all taught at the same time throughout the programme.

The 42 main sounds of English are introduced first. Children learn each letter by its sound, not its name (for instance ‘a’ is learnt as it is heard in ‘ant’, not ‘ai’ as in ‘aim’). The sounds are not introduced alphabetically, but are in seven carefully-selected groups. The first group (s, a, t, i, p, n) can be combined to create the largest number of simple three-letter words. Letters that are easily confused, like "b" and "d", are presented in separate groups."

This is just one example. If you do a search yourself, you will find that different centres have different sequences. Hope this helps!

兩年前我問過老師呢個問題. 英文老師說由於 playgroup 班小朋友年紀細, 她們先教易發音同易記果堆先. 所以, 唔會跟alphabetical order. 同埋完左playgroup 都唔會教得曬 26個, 留 k1 教.

大家(K3)有冇睇有幾張revision既紙派左返來呀?即係漏空左字母要填埋佢果幾張(好似默書).好似之前冇D咁既野既喎,定係我一直冇留意呢?

Hi Era! I also think it's something new. Seems like the kids have to spell words this year.

They have to dictate Chinese words too. Our class teacher gave out some magnets last week to those who got full marks! :funny:

The English word list is quite terrible.
My daughter did not tell me anything about the Chinese Dict. Perhaps she could not get all correct.

Oh? what's wrong with the Eng word list? I haven't checked it, my girl usually does the revision herself...
Actually... what word list? you mean the ones in the blue/purple booklet or do they have a separate sheet?!

About the Chi dictation, maybe your class hasn't done it yet? Revision week actually only starts today. Don't worry la!

That is a list named as revision. For each word, some letters were missing and the students needed to fill in. Those words including "typhoon signals", "grin", "temperature", "dragon" etc. My girl insisted that the teacher did not read the words. They needed to recognize the pictures and filled in the blanks.

哦，學校本藍色書仔有架。佢地Ｄ vocab 有Ｄ係跟 topic 教，有Ｄ就跟 phonics sounds。
Climate 那個 module 教咗 temperature, typhoon signals etc.
/d/ 教咗 dragon
/g/ 教 grin...

阿妹話有教過，不過 revision sheets 上嘅公仔就同教時唔一樣。
你搵唔搵到本書仔溫習呀？我有 scan 咗呀！如果要你 pm 個 email address 俾我吖！

不過以前冇聽過要識串呀麻,我以為我地學過既字,都係識就夠既啦.

我都唔希望幼稚園要跟功課,跟測考架.係俾果份野嚇襯啫.

請問K3的家長們, 學校有冇教過你哋小朋友 contribution這個字? 有個剛上K3的小朋友話我知佢識contribution, 我當時都幾驚奇, 這個字唔淺架喎. 跟住我問佢識唔識串, 佢話識, 仲立即串, 又串岩喎......

啱問完，阿妹係唔識 contribution 嘅！不過佢都識 D 古靈精怪字，鍾意睇書嘅小朋友，真係會學埋學埋好多字。
我又唔會教佢地：＂呢個淺呀，你記啦！呢個深呀，大個至學啦！＂有得學梗係學咗先。我 F4 時有次派 Bio 卷，阿 Sir 走嚟問我，都無教過，點解你會識 anaemia 呢個字？我又真係唔知係睇咩睇番嚟。我之前發現阿仔識好多動詞嘅 past tense, 我問佢係咪老師教？佢話係我教嘅！原來佢細個我同佢讀書好多口，讀完 go, 我會講 go went gone 呀；讀完 write 我會送句 write wrote written。小朋友記性好，聽得多就記咗，識用。
我係全職媽媽，分唔到好多時間俾阿妹，佢想睇書要靠自己。之前佢用哥哥本小學字典，上星期投訴搵唔到 D 字，結果我地買咗本磚頭字典俾佢。
我地眼中，字係分為識嘅同未識嘅；未識就學，學咗咪識囉。
