Hi Ewongmum, forgot to share one thing that start from P2, every pupil need to select at lease one ECA from school. Therefore, if the pupils have not yet select one at end of P1, then they have to do it at the beginning of P2 (There are many interest classes other than sports for selection, such as doing art works, English reading, home economics, etc.). My daughter finally chose dancing ETA as per her own interest and also joined the school Dance team as well. As she joined the school Dance team, so she need to spend two hours in addition per week to practice more, similar to other school leisure teams. On Friday, all the dance team members of 5 grades (P2 to P6) will sit in a same room at last session class to do home work and the elder class pupils will be mentor of lower class team members. I think that is good for my girl since she is still young and naive, and can learn and build relationship with elder Good Hopers.

One thing that GH may be different from HY that I heard a statement from the principal of GH said to the parents in a school briefing session held in Sep this year - "Why you need to push your daughter to learn piano or musical instrument so hard to get grade 8 in her primary school life. Your daughter doesn't need a good certificate for this since she already in a good school, right? She has 12 years time in Good Hope, let them enjoy the process of this leisure instead up play hard for achievement."

I really agree and appreciate the words from the principal.

My daughter started to learn swimming in K3, but the significant improvement on her swimming skills is during the P1 at GH. I just want her to learn and capable to swim at her own and not aim to push her to join the swimming team, so she started late compare with some friend's kids. However, she can swim over 800M non-stop now although slow, it's amazing to me since even her parents cannot do that.

That is so excellent , what a blessing that the girls can enjoy what they are learning instead rushing for a Grade 8 cert. , learn in their own peace. and get the best out of themselves.

I know girls ( very good and smart ) studying a very good kln tong location private primary. They need to find a good secondary and need to push for musical instrucments.....

My girl loves painting and very good in english poetry , recitation and drama. I hope she can further develop her talents.

From talking to you , I find GH not only pick kids ( from their performance) , but they select parents. I found you and I have some common characteristics.

We think for the kids, we are not too pushy.

I hope your daugther will enjoy even more this year and the years comings in GH.

Bon_Bon_Pa_Pa,

I read this thread a bit late and didn't join the discussion. When you mention about ECAs on Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu..etc. Do you mean it just occupies the last lesson but just 2 days to pick her separately after school ends? I am living slightly far from the school, so this is my concern. Another question is about the English, do you think the accent is good? Is there phonics lesson? How about Putonghua?

We also live far away from the school and my daughter take school bus to school. Some ECAs that my daughter take are not at school. Usually, the ECAs of the school just one hour per week and will use the last lesson and so they can take the school bus back to home. However, my daughter also joined the school Dance team so need extra two hours class on the other day where cannot take the school bus and my maid will go to school and pick her up back to home once per week.

GH has phonics/oral lesson teached by NET and also has PTH subject. I am hesitate to comment their English level since different people have different standard in their mind. To me, it is good in my standard.

I am seems talking too much about GH in this thread. Any other TSL parents can share the school life of their kids in TSL, so that the parent in concern can get more information to analyse whether their daughter should go for GH or TSL.
