Re: Think International School

Re: Think International School

Re: Think International School

Dear

I total agree with your suggestion.
In fact, I plan to change to another school for my son next year due to inadequacy of Mandarin.
It's good that if they could provide longer mandrain time so that there is no need for my son to change another school.  15 to 30 minutes per day would be good enough.

I understand that some paraent may prefer to have longer time for english rather than Mandrain.
Think may consider to provide one class at each of K1, K2 & K3 level using Mandrain and English only at one of its campus.

Re: Think International School

I think the nursery class is quite good, as the teachers are very caring, not too many students (max. 12 in one class), and there is English class by native English teacher everyday now.

But how about the studies from K1 to K3? Is the standard of Chinese, Maths and English high?  Will the kids be admitted by famous English primary schools? Seems that Think is not a very popular kinder as compared to other kinders of similar school fees such as St. Catherine's, Kentville or Creative?

Can any parents of LK or UK give some comments please?

Re: Think International School

Dear Moms,
    I agree with WYmom.  I had an interview with the principal this afternoon.  I'm really afriad my kid wouldn't speak in front of the principal.  My kid needs a long time to warm up.  I appreciated the teacher who chatted with my kid.  She's nice and played with my kid happily.
    At the very beginning, my kid was afraid of getting closer to the Santa Claus.  I just said, "Don't be afraid."  That teacher didn't say nothing, she went there and touched the Santa Claus with a happy face.  She smiled at my kid and invited my kid to touch the Santa Claus.  My kid went closer and looked at the Santa Claus.  Lastly, my kid touched the Santa Claus with that teacher.
    That teacher shared some comments with me.  I'm proud of that teacher's professional skills.  My kid could warm up before having the interview today.
    Although I forgot the name of that teacher, but I asked her which class she taught.  She told me that she's a LN teacher.

Re: Think International School

WYmom,

My son is studying K2 now at MOS branch. If you want to know the primary school allocation of 2004, you can try to ask the school? The results of 80+ students were published in the Think Newsletter.

Just to summarize, some students could get into famous DSS / private schools like St. Paul's Co-ed, another St. Paul's, Kln TOng Pri Sch, Logos, Good Hope, SFA, GT School, PLKCKY, etc. For many graduates they joined the govt allocation and could enter La Salle, Marymount, City One Lui Ming Choi, etc.

Doesn't look bad.

Re: Think International School

so.san,

Thanks for your advice.  May I know if you feel the Chinese, English and Maths development of your son is satisfactory in Think? Can your son speak fluent English after studying there for 1 to 2 years?

Do you plan to apply for local primary schools? Will you consider good DSS?

As there is not much info. regarding the academic standard and primary school allotment of Think, especially Think at Mei Foo is so new, I am not sure if my kid should continue to study K1 upto K3...

Re: Think International School

Hi,

I am so glad that many of you share my concern.

Leshita,

It's hanlf an hour on one day each week.

BBmummy and WYmum,

Honestly, I am also now considering to change my boy (LN now) to another school, i.e Victoria Ho Man Tin. They have Madarin lesson for 20 minutes every day; good reputation in bringing up billingual kids; more systematic both in administration and syllabus;
tuition fee is more or less the same.

The point is , Think is still my first choice because:

-The teacher is very good (though there will be another one in K1);
-My son is very happy there;
-I am planning to change him to whole day class, change of environment might be a problem;
-For whole day class, Think can provide more English exposure. (they can offer international class in the morning and one-hour Chinese class in the afternoon)

So, Putonghua is my main concern. I really want to persuade the Principal to offer more Putonghua lessons. This is the right thing to do because other schools charged more or less the same tuition fee offer Putonghua from LN class. Think is quite weak in this aspect.

I hope all of you would call the principal and express your concern. This might help change her mind and give our kids better education. (of course, I will benefit because I can make the choice easily )

Re: Think International School

I am also struggling to change my girl (also LN, so may be classmate with your son) to another branded kinder in Kln Tong which has accepted her.  I agree with you that Mandarin teaching at Think can be more, but my main concern is not this.  I like the teachers and English teaching at Think. My girl is very happy studying there. But seems that the branding of Think is not strong and may not be favourable for applying good primary schools in future.

Another concern is the quality assurance of graduates.  As I do not know or have not heard comments of graduates from the kinder, don't really know the standard of them as compared to those branded kinders.  As you know, the fee of Think is not cheap, so I am looking for value of money as well.

What do you think?

thanks。

Re: Think International School

I ask the principal regarding Mandarin class, she said that there will be 2 classes in one week next year for K2.  She will also consider adding some Mandarin projects in the afternoon for whole day students. Maybe you can double confirm with her.

Hope this can help your decision.

I want to have more time on Mandarin as well.  I think the Principal will do something soon.

Re: Think International School

WYmom,
You're quick. The principal replied, through a 主任, that it's a good idea and she will think about it. I told Ms Liu that I am hoping for PTH every day instead of twice a week. She said a PTH teacher stationed in MF is needed in that case (now they are sharing a teacher with another campus). She said she would talk to me once the arrangement is confirmed.
Therefore, nothing is confirmed.

Other mums, pls call the principal as well so that she will take our request seriously.

As for Primary School, I think the performance of the kid at interview is above everything, school reputation only counts a bit.  Ms Liu said their students can speak complete English sentence. I once asked for comments from parents of graduates but to no avail.  For me, I'll stay if they can offer better PTH course.

Let's make a list on who's studying in MeiFoo Think.
Thx!
