Re: Kentville or St. Teresa?
Charwes,
lamba is right in a sense that STS does have advantage over Kentville for Catholic schools , for private or DSS schools with a different religion, both kinders have the same priority.
I believe in the academia field, all schools know very well the background of each other, (only parents got stuck) They select kids based on the results of the entrance exams, right?
I believe that one reason why STS seems to weaker than Kentville in terms of P1 admission rates by famous private or DSS schools is because STS used to have its own primary school. Unless my son can go to a school with a secondary section, I would not forgo my seat at STS primary to change to another primary school, would you?
If my elder son studied in STS , and a place is guaranteed in its primary section, I would not have applied for Kowloon Tong, Alliance, St. Joseph's, Lai Yin (all of which my son got a place for P1)
So basically students from STS won't apply for private or DSS primary schools at all! It is for this reason, I guess, that private or DSS primary schools would not like to take up STS's kids as the chances that they wil really come in and study are slim. But Kentville is different, the kids need to look for DSS or Private schools as a back up and a lot of them would really study there. Therefore the application or acceptance rate is much higher, giving this impression.
Since STS no longer runs the primary section, I guess starting from this year onwards, the acceptance rate of STS graduates by other schools will be much higher.
Kentville undoubtedly is definitely a good school as well. I believe the hit topic next year will be STS, Kentville or St. Cat.?
Pay the registration fee first, adn give yourself more time to consider. Both are good kinders, you won;t make a mistake afterall. I believe there won;t be any hassle for most kids from these 2 schools to get a place in the above mentioned private and DSS schools. Its basically only a choice of which school can increase the chances of your daughter getting into your most desired school.
