Taking part in the world's largest choral competition in music history, the Senior Choir set off for the 5th World Choir Games Graz, Austria 2008 in early July, hoping to defend their title from the previous World Choir Games in Xiamen, China. Demonstrating their abilities and musicality to 7 internationally renowned jurors, the Choir was awarded a high score of 91.88 points, bringing home a gold medal and capturing the title of World Champion of Category W3: Young Male Choirs. In the first part of the World Choir Games 2008, our Senior Choir became the sole Chinese Champion among all other categories, with the flag of the People’s Republic of China hoisted to celebrate the glory.
Moreover, the Diocesan Schools Choral Society, comprising 29 singers from Diocesan Boys' School and Diocesan Girls’ School, participated in Category W17: Musica Sacra – Open Category, and was awarded the gold medal with 88.38 points – the second highest score in the category, triumphing over the remaining 17 choral finalists.
