Don't let that worry you.

IS students may be  well taken care of by their schools, but they are not  pampered like babies.

ISs do have tests and exams,   assessments and GPA gradings. There are  lots of competitive sports, music festivals , debates and what not . A student has plenty of opportunities to explore his/her  own strengths and weaknesses, and to learn the bitter  and cold  facts of life.

IS students are not stupid.. Some may sport a laid-back,  easy-going  demeanor,  but they are never self-delusional as to believe that they are 'great'  just because someone said so.

IS students are more likely to view things with an open and mature mind. They just take their setbacks with stride and move on, so you never hear an IS student jumping out of the window just because he failed his exam .

3>How do they learn to cope with adverseness "逆境" or lose "失敗" when they do not have any pressure from school or studying?  Is it really good for them in their social life or future career path?

From my personal observation, a person, who have experienced a lot of  "逆境" or "失敗", doesn't mean he can take it well and face new challenges.  Many of them just refuse to fight again.  Have you seen any student who keep failing in exams can take up new challenge readily.

Local schools label them as losers and they believe it.  IS give them suitable challenges that make them progress on their own pace.  Which approach is better?

I think other parents should have answered to your queries.

I can only say that you and your friend know too little about international schools that are beyond kindergarden level. Just remember that kindergarten educations would be totally different from primary or secondary education.
