Unfortunately the series is out of print for a while. You may try public library or bid from e-bay. I just wanted to show some examples for children who do not like reading.
bigkelvin,
Is your boy going to P.1? Choose the books that can arouse his interest. Say if he likes watching Shrek, you may give him some Shrek story books. Don't give to him directly and read it yourself first. I bet he would come to you and asked what you were reading. Moreover, when he goes to poo poo, give him an interesting & easy-to-read book (my boy never refuses this).

Can you tell me where I can buy the "Lego Readers Series" in Hong Kong??? Thanks!!
Thanks for sharing your exprience. My son is going to P.1 this September. He likes me reading story for him in
Chinese. When I read English story books, he seems
bored. He seldom reads books, especially English, by himself. As I know he loves those Lego figures "人仔" very
very much, that's why I try to give him the "Lego Readers Series" story book in order to arouse his interest. I've
checked most of Hong Kong's bookshops, libraries and
the coming bookfairs, they don't have those books for
sale. anyway, I'll try Amazon.com or bid from eBay as
you say.
Try to observe/evaluate the “learning type” of kids..
Some may learn things through “visual stimulation”; some may learn through “hearing”; some may learn through “inner thinking/feeling”
My daughter, aged 5.5, always prefer reading Chinese books rather than English books.
I try to read more Chinese books but encourage some English books to her.
Though the progress in reading English books is slow, I can keep her motivation in reading…
I highly recommend a story bookset called "Magic Box", Publisher: Greenfield. It's a set of 40 story books, with lots of repetition, and all the stories are interesting for the kids. I think it suits kids of 4-8 years old. Try!
It's difficult to buy, but i know you can find it at the book fair.

I have similar trouble with my son. Recently I bought a 西遊記 (for young kids) for him, read him the stories. Soon he is fascinated with the stories, characters, pictures, imagination, ... Few days ago, he told me that 玉皇大帝住在靈霄殿呢! i.e, he started to find something he's interested from the book himself!
Perhaps parents may try step by step, buy him something he is really interested in, eg. fairy tales, pets he loves, funny stories, just anything that may draw his attention, etc.
