Maryknoll Convent

我朋友的女兒現讀K1，佢好想個女入Maryknoll Convent，想請問Maryknoll Convent的教學是怎樣的呢？是否很大壓力(學生及家長)？因她工作頗忙，不知女兒可否自行應付。

她應否搬往41網呢？

其實搬往41網後，機會有幾大呢？我聽很多人講搬往41網都入唔到。

以 04 年６月 case, 有 80 個位大抽奘, 16 比區外, 64 比 41 網, 41網 first choice Maryknoll 無1 千都有 500 掛 抽唔到唔奇.

咁個小朋友真係要好醒兼自動自覺至得.我有朋友個女當年抽簽中左,開心到喊.佢本身冇做野,已經全天候睇住女既功課,結果兩年落黎頂唔順,都係轉左國際學校.

嘩!現今香港D教育真係誇張!我頭先已Call佢，叫佢不如随緣，佢話咁佢會試DGPS 同 GH，私校可能冇咁大壓力喎？？！！比佢激水!

我都認同名校的壓力一定比普通學校大，但我都明白我朋友嘅心態--盡量揀最好嘅學校比個女! 但個人認為唔係個個都handle 到名校的壓力!

有 d 官校都有 pressure, 撞著出位校長 and/or sense-less 教改, 不過無鬥身家 pressure lor.

My daughter is studying in Maryknoll P2. There is no muck HW, at least less than those studying in private primary school.  So I don't know why someone need to change to international scholl. May be they have other reason.

do you know if there is any possibility that MCS will go private?  I heard that they're going to give all 'seats' for central ballot.  that means they can't have a choice of students.  is this true?  As I know (from my past) they don't have major exams till P4, so the children can study without much pressure and they emphasize more on extracurricular activities.  Is this still the same? What I want for my daughter is to study without pressure.  I want her to enjoy school life and enjoy the school environment.  And one last question, if the mother is a former student, will the daughter have higher chances of getting into MCS?

Actually you have all the correct information.
But bear in mind that although they only have examination in P4, they still have test (P1~P3) at the same time as P4~P6 examination.

Actually Maryknoll just like other primary school except most of the subjects are in english eg. Maths and Science. Both me and my wife need to take care of her homework but luckily she studies quite happy in this school because there is not much pressure from school.

My daughter is studying in P5 now. Much homework? OK la. In average, my daughter can finish her homework before dinner. I'm also a working mum. So she depends more on her own. It seems that not too many of her classmates have private tutors. That's good. Because i don't have a pressure to find one for my girl so long as she can handle it herself.
