Re: 保良局蔡繼有學校
I share WYmom's observation that the secondary stage (i.e. Year 6 onwards) will pose much challenge.
In fact, I reckon the school's requiring Year 5 students to write thesis is part of its approach to testing and benchmarking the students' capabilities, hence better preparing them - academically and mentally - for the secondary curriculum. Fortunate to see their theses are more than impressive. (Note: Interested parents can buy the publication - a compilation of their works)
Unlike the traditional approach, CKY will adopt the IB and does not have an easy-to-follow curriculum. Conventional private tuition (or even parents) might not be able to 'help' at the secondary stage. By then, I believe that will underscore the importance of 'nurturing an interest in learning' that the school advocates all along.
If such an interest/ownership of learning is not instilled in the mind of students, they are not likely to be 'motivated' to proceed - or succeed - with their secondary studies, not to mention university or graduate studies.
While I would deem the CKY approach is 'enjoyable' for the kid, it is definitely not a shortcut to education. But I trust it will bear fruit in the long run.
