Hi flymame,

Even though with no special talents, you still have some extra-curricula activities, right? e.g. the usual swimming lesson, piano lesson, maybe maths, etc. It is hard to believe that just by being talkative can get into DBS.

Ha, he does paticipate in some extra-curicula activities, such as Taekwondo, gymnastics and playing the piano, but frankly speaking, he does not have any special achievement!

一定係流料!!呢150個學生係真係用自己實力o向 2nd interview中表現比其他小朋友優勝, 有d 阿哥讀緊dbspd 都 failed 或 waiting!!

well, I think having relations, right religion, good report from a good kg, being all-round with music and sports, etc. all counts a little bit towards the total score. It is surprising what duck_duck said, as I only heard that some old boys' sons did not get in. If true, then most of the points may really be scored in the 2 interviews (esp the 2nd), just like what the school had listed from day 1.

In the web site of DBSPD. The admission :
1. 1st interview performance 30%
2. 2nd interview performance 50%
3. extra curricular and academic achievement 10%
4. father, brother study in DBS 10%
So, I think they just simply adding all the marks of above 4 items and then choose those highest 150 kids.

Yes BenKeung, It does look like they have stuck to their original marking formula, which kinda make me respect the school a little more. I wonder how many points my son got... well, on 2nd thought, I should just be happy that he got in. Thank God.

I'm sure there are more than 20 boys in BK who got into DBSPD? Do come out of hiding and share with us. Our sons have the next 13 years studying together, which may lead to life long friendships. Perhaps you have friends' son who got accepted, maybe you can help list their info here too. Congrats again everyone.

Should be 12 years!

Our sons have the next 13 years studying together, which may lead to life long friendships.

My son wouldn't be a DB boy, but it is interesting to note that there are always some (even majority) of parents speculate that the school make up the marking scheme to cheat most of the parents and likely just admit those with special relationship.

IMHO, if you can't trust the school on this simple thing, why should you sent your boy/girl to them!? On the other hand, if our boy/girl failed, why can't we accept the fact?

It's a mystery how did the school choose the right boy. Will they let parents know after admission?

I knew a man whose son is also admitted to the school.  He is really surprised because his boy is quiet, doesn't have smart appearace, performed not very well in the interview.  He told others that they don't have any relationship with this school and have ordinary family background.  His son is not talented in anything, though he did join some extra-curricular activities. Some of his friends even think that it's a mistake that he got a 2nd interview, but surprise come one after another, he got accepted.

I knew some other friends. Their boys are really sharp and even smarter than my boy, but they failed.  Sometimes. I feel bad why the result comes out like this, not all my boy's future peers are smart kids in my dream school.  May be the Interview Board find something special in different boys that others hardly notice. It also reminds me that God is in control of everything.  I better be humble and accept his plan.

I would like to encourage all parents of smart boys to keep on nuture your son with the best education.  It is only a battle in G1 admission.  You may win the war in life.  I really hope that you will find a right school for them and may be they can apply again when the school has seat available in the future years.
