有無計劃送小朋友去外國讀中學?

Sevevoaks 唔收year 8， 2012年 year 9 舊年已收晒生，我地都係試下考2013年 year 9， 我知呢間學校好難考既，所以都唔敢抱太大希望，我只係想搵D中上和少D中國人的學校已OK。

You willbe disappointed if the agent told you the school has less Chinese than others.Frankly speaking, most of the boarders are from Hong Kong & Asia among the boarding schools in UK.Actually, they welcome Chinese students as they are the main “clients” nowadays.The economic atmosphere in UK is the worst for the past few decades. Most of the UK ordinary families are suffering from high inflation & tax rate. How can they afford the expensive boarding charges? So, we became the main “feeders” of the UK boarding schools. By the way, theGST in UKis 20%. I returned from UK before summer holiday. If you decided to drive by yourself, please beware of the cost of petroleum. I drive to work in HK
everyday. Yet, the expense on oil is only 1/3 of UK.

絕對認同你！其實要揀一間真正適合呀女的學校，真係要考慮好多因素架，budget更加緊要，係最大前提！不過自己plan、搵資料，有時好多實際經驗之談都唔係website, forum幫到手，各人有自己意見，都真係幾頭痕！有d agent有hk,uk兩地consultant，起碼有響英國local住的人，對哩d學校的風氣認識多d啦！希望幫到你啦！

我都打算送小兒明年去英國讀YEAR 8，其實由開始有這個計劃到現在都覺得整件事頗復習。由其是選學校真的感到十分苦腦，因為資金不多所以要選一間又經濟又排名高又不會有太多亞洲人的學校實在不容易。不過我自己用EXCEL做了一個表，將有關的學校資料放進去然後慢慢篩選，自自然就會有想要的結果。總結AGENT及BABY KINDDOM的家長意見，這樣就會找到適合自己的學校。
小兒將會考ST PETER 的入學試，而這兩個星期會interview LEYS 和 KINGSWOOD兩間學校，希望盡快找到學校之後可以訂埋機票，因為明年是奧運，相信機票都會好難訂。

在此想再多謝BABY KINGDOM的家長，你們願意花時間去看去給意見和大家分享，實屬難得。多謝!

I understand the agency such as AA would let your kid to apply no more than 4 schools . Besides the mentioned schools, why not try more agency to consider different schools and apply more than 3 schools. In 2009, I have approached this agency for Grade 10 application for my son and found their service OK.

For air tickets, you may consider New Zealand airline which are less expensive than BA and CX.

As replied by CX, tickets for Easter Holiday are fully booked.  You have to pay more to upgrade. I don't recommend other airline except CX. Yes, it is the most expensive. Your kid is only year 8, you have to consider he is an UM, Besides, the air transportation is quite chaotic during the peak season. Remember the Christmas holiday last year, passengers with air tickets of CX had first priority to check in. There are many uncertainties when your kid is far away from home. Price is of course one of the important things to considerate, but not the most important.

多謝大家的建議，我會再嘗試向不同AGENT收集資料，找出自己心儀的學校。
至於機票方面，我相信CX都應該會FULLY BOOKING，如果屬實，唯有upgrade機票，始終都是第一次出國留學，都希望佢可以順順利利，平平安安。待他熟習環境後，可以嘗試乘坐其他AIRLINE。

For air tickets, you can try Sita World Travel in TST East (Tel 2316 2271) - they managed to get my friend's daughter some reasonably priced CX tickets just one week before she was due to travel at the beginning of September.
I was well impressed by their efficiency.
It is very important to find an agency that can help at short notice!

My son has interviewed the principal of Leys on yesterday and he let my son to sit for enterance exam in Jan 2012. I think he keeps me waiting for a long time. I wonder why not to take the exam at once?

One the other hand, the agent will arrange the exam for St Peter School to my son when I submit the bank draft.

Should I wait for Leys or accept the offer by St Peter if my son get pass the exam?

Academically, I think St Peter is better than Leys.
But you should check that out for yourself.
If that is the case, then surely you should accept the St Peter offer rather than waiting for Leys.

I received the bad news from New Hall, my application was rejected. I think it would be better to take all the exams offered by school. I'm worry my son can't get into the school which is not the first priority.

Don't worry.
New Hall isn't your 1st choice anyway - perhaps they think your son is too good for them!!
Now that you have the chance of exam for St Peter & Leys, make sure your son is well prepared for them.

開左學兩個月, 考試又來臨了。
呢兩個月都好TOUGH, 5 年級真係比較多功課, 多活動, 星期一至日都無可能停下來, 有一晚係星期一晚阿女做到10 點幾, 有D同學做到11 點幾。  DADDY 都唔鍾意。   

阿女問我重有無搵學校, 我話有呀, 因為有D TARGET, 但未真正去了解, 因為我叫佢做到面前既野, 才有機會去考些好學校。

I wanted to send my boy overseas next year-13years old。still thinking of the location； 1） switzerland。2） england。As I have been study in Switzerland for two years. The environment there is excellent and the main issue is I want him to learn an extra languages. He can spoke English and PTH therefore if he can speak French. I think that can help. My hubby think England is good too. Still in the middle of the road. Are there any consulting agent or seminar in town for me to get more information? Thanks.

For my experience F1 will be the good time to let them study oversea. Is easier for them to get use to the foreigner culture.

I know a good 監護人, she was borned in HK but moved to UK in childhood, fluent cantonese and english.  She runs home stay as well.  Chinese dishes dinner.  She rode the kid to school because there was no school bus service. Her son speaks english only, can provide english support.  There are several good schools around her place.  PM me if interested.
