我想學校會觀察小朋友的小動作，不過多會看他有這些小動作的原因；你說的小動作，可能是他太緊長，令他不自覺咬手指或搔癢，可以考慮找出引起小動作的原因，再對症下藥，這樣才可以治本。始終，光叫他不要有那些小動作，效果實在有限。

我就是上了小狀元, 上面有"空格"位寫小動作, 其實不寫, 我已知阿仔的小動作, 我亦已多番提他, 但相信都幾難完全改善. "咬手指", 以及一個鐘都會有幾次"好似身痕", 都不知痕什麼 , 昨天 ...

正如thomasha所講,帶一本佢地喜歡的書,無需要太深,校長都係話最緊要佢地鍾意讀/睇.

另外,我估校長也欣賞「有記性」的小朋友,因為第三次的面試校長會問番第二次的面試內容.

是啊！我囝囝只有自己真正喜歡的書才會自動自覺地看（他喜歡看工具書多一點），否則仍然會要求我們伴讀，其實我都希望他可以快一點完全自己閱讀呢！

2nd in係人人有份o既，唔駛靠好彩。

貴同埋容易入無直接關係，好似St Paul's Coed係全港數一數二最貴，但放棄o既人唔多。比較容易入o既，係實力稍遜o既直資，或者考慮o下私校。

i know my question seems a bit silly and unrelated to this thread...., but this comes up on my mind when i am reading the thread.  in general, when can a child able to start reading by him/herself??  my boy is turning 3 yrs old in next month, but he is still at the stage of only listening story mode (while he likes listening us reading to him).  and i have no clue how to teach him to read by himself.  or it is just too early??

My son learnt phonics at 3 and he started to "read" then without really understood the meaning of the words.  I think a kid can read and understand the meaning of the books until he has gained a reasonable amount of vocabularies.  You may start from reading to him and ask him to repeat after you.  Later on, you can read the books together with him sentence by sentence in turn.

I think my son can start reading simple story books from 3-4 years old, though he prefers our company when he is reading them.  He can understand most of the words, maybe because the words are really simple.

Not really silly.  It's one of the usual questions parents have when their kids are not yet into active reading, or not yet ready to take the initiative to pick up books to "read".

In my opinion, I think kids first read with their parents or care-takers, and then by themselves after rounds of practice and imitation by repeating the sounds.  I would say it's a matter of time and habit which should be built from an early stage.

I believe you have already done a good job.  Keep it up and start with simple books with few words first (for English, you may use Oxford Reading Tree (ORT) Stage 1 to 3 first and then advance up the stages; for Chinese, it is quite a different thing).

My kid finished reading most ORT Stage 9 books available from the public library before he turned 5.  But as mentioned by Camom, my kid might not understand the context even though he could pronounce the words.

我開始覺得我睇書嘅速度不及仔仔（中英皆是），加上可能我講故事差，仔仔不嬲會搵媽咪講故事，所以有小小擔心仔仔唔黐自己嗟。

他從要伴讀到有能力自己讀，實在是很大的進步，表示他已在學獨立做事。有 "怎樣增加親子時間" 的煩惱，對你來說，其實是件好事呢。:)

哈哈，又係喎，我囝囝鍾意聽我讀故事書多Ｄ，因為我會扮聲，又會改動吓Ｄ故事內容等佢聽得投入Ｄ...daddy講故事就好似平鋪直敘Ｄ...

不過如果要睇Ｄ百科全書／科學書，囝囝又好醒目地自動搵daddy陪佢睇，無計！

大家好！小兒也是Ｋ２小朋友。我想問一些有關於上年英華小學第一次面試（我和老師約會）情況的問題：
１）會如何進行？單對單或是一組人呢？
2）面試的內容會是什麼？是常識？是學術？ⅠQ題？看圖講故事還是其他問題？
3）會不會考其他語言呢？
4）等候面試期間，有沒有人在觀察？
我已看回上年＂小一選校＂的留言,大部份都是談論＂如何揀書＂又或是second interview,但很小談論"我和老師約會"的情況。
希望非常好人的準英華家長可以幫一幫手。謝謝大家！！

其實兒子開始長大，男孩子性格逐漸浮現，也就是說父子間的共同興趣或話題會更多，會有不少和他的親子機會的。

記得去年我在每次面試完結後均有分享面試內容，相信你可以再嘗試找找，因為過了這麼久，具體內容可能已開始模糊。

至於你的問題，我嘗試簡略解答：
１）會如何進行？單對單或是一組人呢？
是一組人，不過也有個別問問題。

2）面試的內容會是什麼？是常識？是學術？ⅠQ題？看圖講故事還是其他問題？
沒有常識／學術／ⅠQ題，好像有故事延續；都是一般面試的題目和群體遊戲，另外是會問一條關於英華內一些環境的問題 (例如門口的街市模型，樓梯兩旁等)以考驗孩子的觀察力，孩子們面試出來都很高興。

3）會不會考其他語言呢？
全程以廣東話進行，也有英語題。

4）等候面試期間，有沒有人在觀察？
觀察家長和小孩等候的情況？等候區只有一位負責核對資料的職員，也不察覺有閉路電視監控，相信沒有人在觀察。

根據小兒所述，上年約10＋人分批進入課室，課室內有3,4位老師（分別問中文，英文，數學及畫畫題），小朋友會被輪流叫到老師跟前作答。

中文題是認讀單字；

英文題囝囝說老師問他："What is this?", 囝囝答: "This is a camera."  老師再問："How do you use it?".  囝囝答："It's for taking photos."；

數學題是有一個maze之類的東西，上面有些白兔，有些紅蘿蔔，問那一條路最近食到紅蘿蔔，又問幾多隻白兔有得食紅蘿蔔；

畫畫題老師給囝囝一幅圖畫，上面畫了英華小學地下的操場（or禮堂？），問囝囝知否圖中的地方是那裡；又要囝囝在圖畫中畫他認為會出現什麼人做著什麼事情，囝囝就畫了有學生在打籃球。

印象中沒有問普通話題，只有英文題一part是用英文發問。

不知道有否其他老師在旁觀察。

小朋友在等候作答期間可以看書本，囝囝當時和另一位小朋友一同看有關恐龍的圖書。

事隔多月，可能有些細節混淆了，希望能給你一些籠統的印象就是了。

你們的仔仔好醒目！我兒子當天渾渾沌沌，沒有說明面試細節，但一點可以肯定，面試過程是愉快的，因他每一次都面帶笑容出來！

對我來說，能令小孩面試完出來時普遍面帶笑容，代表面試安排是很成功的。

老實說，當日我們有一位前一屆考小一的家長指點，知道後面的面試會問之前面試的內容，所以我們比較容易說服兒子在面試後 "和盤托出" 過程。
