Hi, peppergin,
I do agree that this is normal practise  for all the Primary School but as in my case we don't have 2nd interview at all,
I don't mind they call me to tell me about what's going on now if we have attended the 2nd interview already and waiting for the result, but don't u think this is no meaning for me to hear this phone ?

I guess you probably mistakenly took that the practice of a 2nd interview in Logos is similar to that of other schoolsi.e. 2nd int still screens the students.

The experience of many parents who attended the second interview of Logos indicated that, if you're selected for second interview, it almost means that you're accepted, if there is not much disagreement between your family to the school's philosophy. Therefore some families, after seeing the principal, even can know the result right away and pay the "down payment".

Others please correct me if I am wrong.

I think the message of the call is to let you know that there are still chance for your kid to study in Logos. And you would expect answer by December. This message should be meaningful for some parents.

我的小朋友已成為08-09真道正取生，很開心聽到你說"小兒很喜歡真道"，我相信小朋友的感覺是最準確，每位家長都希望小朋友入到一間適合的小學，沒有那一間最好，那一間最不好，正如人都有優點及缺點，不會是完美。只要是校長親身面試而成功入到真道書院，相信小朋友的性格會比較接近。經過真道家長朋友(小二及小五)親身講述學校情況，我個人相信真道應該比較適合小兒，我都希望你繼續努力，誠意是最緊要 !!!

Thanks for your detailed explanation.  有時未必人人都清楚各小學收生的運作，多謝你用心解釋。明白以後就不會再有誤會。

恭喜你成功入到. 找一間合小朋友的學校是首要. 不是只求高分.
要明白在學習過程怎樣啟發思維, 從聯課中學其他課本以之事.
及加強與人相處之能力. 小兒能開開心心上學是我才期待的.

Please don't label any kid "second best", especially your own.

We parents and kids are forced to play this "school finding game". Every game has rules. These rules are not perfect, and may be of advantage to some kids and parents. This doesn't means that our kids are second best if we don't have the advantage. It is only that the rules don't suit some of us this time. There will be chances that your kid will win in the other future games.

Every kid is special. We don't own them, but we have to know them and help them to develop their potential, and to accompany them in the journey of life.

Wish you success and peace of mind in this game!

家長對學校的comment, 很視乎那間學校是否取錄你的小朋友. 取錄了, 當然有讚無彈; 未被取錄的, 滿不是味兒. 我女兒早在9月已被取錄, 對於真道, 我也有由愛到恨再到回心轉意的經歷.

我自己覺得, 真道的 2nd in 進行得超慢, 可能校長太忙了, 他可真是逐個家庭親自接見最少15分鐘的. 為何有2nd in的幾乎全部都收, 因為其1st 做得仔細, 真的花了一個小時去觀察小朋友, 所以挑出來的都很合學校的要求.

另外, 真道是很想把有質素的學生留住. 如留位費要交$2200, 恐怕是全港之冠. 她也有把取錄了的學生名單呈上教統局, 杜絕了學生再經自行分配學位而取得官津校學位. 我有朋友在某直資學校註了冊, 但也沒有收到教統局取消資格的信, 能順利參加自行分配學位. (我自己都想博一間好的津校, 但教統局來信取消了我的資格, 說我已佔了直資學位.)

現在已經是12月, 小一選校第一階段接近尾聲. 如果未收到結果的其實心裡有數, 都是要準備明年的大抽獎和叩門了. 既然真道給了大家電話等通知, 即是有希望. 要不她大可置之不理, 或乾脆給你一個rejecct.

革命尚未成功, 同志仍需努力!

愛, 是因為我很buy真道嗰套, 簡直是心目中的dream school.
恨, 咪又係好像現在各位投訴的一樣, "等了又等". 等的滋味不好受, 到底是得, 還是唔得, 多一天也不想等.
如果真道漸成氣候, 像那些百年老校如St. Paul's Co-ed, 真道如何安排, 大家都會默然接受.

My son will be P1 next year too. Just like most of the parents, we had the interview on June 30. There was no news from the school .... During the waiting months, I called the school several times and was told that Principal Yau was still screening the candidates for 2nd interview and we should wait till November, by that time, there should be an answer. We almost gave up ....... (in the mean time , my son was admitted to another 2 DSS )  
I was soooo happy to received the 2nd interview phone call from the school in early November.

The day for the 2nd interview, Principal Yau was late and there were about 5 families waiting for him (including us). It was very impressive that the kids in the waiting room were reading story books by themselves. Very behave.
During the interview, Pricipal Yau talked with us about his view in education, the recent school bus issue, and the long waiting time for 2nd interview (he was very busy ). He only asked my son his name, which kindergarten he is from and what are the names of his teachers... We talked about 30 min.  That's it, my son was admitted right after the interview.

So, for those parents who attended the 1st interview in Oct or Nov (not sure the date), please be patience.

Dear newdingdong,

We had the same experience as you.  We waited for nearly 1 hour and had ONLY 15 mins to talk with Principal Yau.  My husband, me and my son kept on reading books while we were waiting in the room.  Principal Yau just started asking an interesting question "What a big big burger" which came from the wording of  my son's T-shirt.  My son felt extremely happy when Prinipal Yau asked such special question.  And he talked, talked and talked with Principal Yau.  My husband and I felt that Principal Yau really understood how to arouse the interest of the kids liked my son.  My son liked logos very much and said that he will wear another T-shirt so that he could a chance to talk with Principal Yau next time.

There was only my OWN experience.  I really understand it is not easy to wait for such long time.  However, it is really a golden chance to understand the school vision before making a choice.

We just play this game once and we have to try our best.

努力 !! 努力 !! 再努力 !!
