Pls fill in the blank with the correct form of the verb.

The dog is outside. I can hear it _________.  (bark)

note : (is barking) is the wrong answer

I wonder whether (barks) or (barking) is the correct answer.

After "hear" use bare infinite

Just like " I make him cry"

Check it out from Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary P.689 under "hear", e.g. I heard someone laughing.

I checked my son's Longman Grammar book, it suggest "Bark"

Nevertheless, in Cambridge's dictionary, both "bark" and "barking" are correct.

I think, the answer should be "barking"
But how can I teach my daugther of P.2 that it is a gerund by using "barking"

No! KKBBKK is right and the correct answer is "bark"

Cambridge's dictionary is correct. That is,
I can hear it bark/barking.

bark 和 barking 都對. bark 說明發生情形. 但 barking 有反覆連續意思.  

以這句來說, 狗在外邊, 因為聽見牠叫.  祇想說明吠叫證明隻狗在外邊,  我想用 bark 即可.

I saw the man climb the tower.  男人爬上了塔.
I saw the man climbing the tower.  男人正在爬上塔.
