For Tree tops, kids can finish 1 book in 1 go. It is pretty short (32 pages with not many words in a page). Normally, my son read it quietly first, then I will ask him a few questions to make sure he understands the book. Or, I ask him to re-tell the story in own words. Then, he needs to write comments, usually a few lines. For each stage, I only buy two sets (i.e. 12 books) for him to read.
However, for other chapter books, like Horrid Henry (my son's favourite). He need 2-3 days to finish one book (1/2 hr each day).

She is halfway through Robins already...
Do kids usually finish the whole chapter book in 1 go? I think its a good idea to "assign" 1 chapter to her everyday, and leave her wanting more... |
