Hi, are there any parents of current students studying in PN or K1 in this kindergarten? Could you please share some of your likes and dislikes about your child's school life? Also, would like to know what sort of interview format do they use when admitting PN children. Thank you!

It’s s really nice school, teachers are caring and my son loves this school so much, he is now K2. For the interview, it is mainly play based , the teacher will talk to the kids casually at the same time.

My daughter attended their playgroup before and it was quite disappointing. So we ended up not taking their PN offer.

From my experience, the teachers are nice but I wish they had more interaction with the kids. It feels like they just open the door for you and you are just paying to go in and play with your own kid.

For example, during art time – I was expecting that the teachers would at least come over and give the kids a bit of encouragement/praise. Or at least pretend to be interested in what they are doing. But instead they just patrol around the room and telling you - they have 5 mins before snacktime. And it is pretty much the same during free play. It just feels very distant and “hea”?

We do go to other PGs which are also play based so the difference is evident when comparing the playgroups with a similar format. The teachers are a lot more attentive.

But of course this is just my experience with their playgroup and it might be very different for PN-K3.  So no offense to the current parents at Kornhill Intl. I am just sharing my experience here….

I heard similar comments from two families as well.  One is a boy who joined in K1.  His mum found that the boy, who used to be a happy boy, was always feeling down after school.  His mum had no clue until she asked the school what happened, and only then she was told that the teachers had asked the boy to stay in a "cool down corner" because they found him "too naughty".  His mum was furious about not being informed of such at all.  After three months, his mum decided to quit this school.  At the school Christmas Party (which was supposed to be the last day of the boy), his mum found that the school had already removed all the boy's name tags/ school bag hook.  

I know another family also quitted after 1-2 months time spent in the playgroup.  Their girls who used to go to Tutor Time, didn't like the schools at all.

Thanks for sharing ur experience, mid9blue! I hope PN will be better. There won't be parents in class for PN, and with even more children as compared to Playgroup. There's no way to tell how well the teachers interact with the kids, we can only tell whether the children like going to school. If the kids come home talking about their lessons and teachers nonstop, then we can be less worried. We have an interview soon, finger crossed!

Thanks for sharing, chocotung. There weren't many posts about this school and most were from years ago which were mainly very positive. May I ask if you remember how recent these two cases happened? I wish more people can share their experiences, so we can be more aware of what to expect.

The events are recent, the first term of 18-19 i.e. last Christmas. The other one was 2017.

I am afraid you are not talking about the same kindergarten, I think you are talking about Victoria but not Kornhill international nursery.
