Your data should be extracted from Gov't website, right? Those data were 2004/2005 and the total numbers of 150 P.1 students should be now promoted to P.2 during this academic year. My child is currently P.2 student and hope I can explain it to you.
As far as I know the numbers of new students for P.1in KTS during 2004/2005 were dramatically increased. I was also surprised that when we attended the first day class of P.1 and there were around 40 students in my child's classroom. From other parents of higher grades said that the nos. of registration / confirmation to accept the school seats were more than previous years. I think one of the reasons is attributable to the terrible Education Reform and a lot of parents now are willing to pay fee rather than accepting the fate by the result of lucky draw. In the end, the numbers of P.1 students are much more increasing than ever before.
On the other hand, KTS is a private school. Some parents may consider their desirable subsidized primary schools again for P.2 level, therefore some students will leave school after applied successfully. In my child's class this year, there have 2 students leaving for studying abroad in September. After that, no withdrawal has been found in the class. I think it is quite normally happened in other private and direct subsidized (DSS) schools as well.
The curriculum of KTS is good. My child is studying happily everyday at school. She always tells me she likes the school very much and she is very eager to join a great variety of extra-school activities. No matter what types of characters, you will not be left alone from those activities as you must find ones to suit your children i.e. music, sports, drama…etc. I like this school all rounded education policy.
This second year, the numbers of P.2 students are more or less the same as P.1 and I can see those very outstanding or top students of P.1 are still studying at KTS. Of course, I cannot say there is nobody to withdraw due to very poor academic result (I guess only) but the teachers are very nice and sincere especially the headmistress who is a very kind lady, the school stresses on both academic and good personality development and surely they will not give up students.
The workload of homework is not too heavy which really surprises me a bit after studying at KTS. Or this is only my girl’ case because she can finish homework and reading before 2130 every night after joining the extra-activities from school to home around 1700. She can practise piano and play computer games after homework.
In last summer holiday, the KTS did not send us homework or exercises to do, instead the students are only required to read books. Just read, read and read for your long summer vacation! I like this way more than completing thousands pages of exercises in the summer!
Overall I am very satisfied with the school and I am very glad to select the suitable school for my child.
