I think to consider whether a child should go to mainstream or special needs school, you need to look at the child as a whole, not just intelligence alone. A child can have normal intelligence, eg non verbal IQ 110+ but he has behaviour and emotional problems, have poor communication and self help skill. Is it still the right choice to put a child like that in mainstream school?
Back to the original thread, whatever outcome after the pre primary assessment, parents can choose for their child to go to a mainstream primary school if they wish.
I think the parents knows best which type of school their child should go to and shouldn't make decisions purely from suggestions from these so called experts who only spent an hour or so with your child, who maybe was not performing at their best during their assessment. |
