請問有沒有人參加過演藝學院的兒童音樂啟蒙課程？ 可否給一點意見？我覺得課程非常貴，你們覺得值得嗎？

Personally speaking, the teacher claims herself to be a talent teacher and just wants to find out some talent children. If the children have talent in music, it is not necessary to be taught by her. Not worth at all.

Did your kid join the course? How's the quality of the teacher? Did the kids enjoy the class? And can they learn something from the class?

Actually from the description of the brochure, the course is very attractive because it's about the improvisation of music. It means kids can create the music themselves. Moreover, the Orff methodoly is very popular for teaching children in Canada. That's why I am interested in the course. However, it's too expensive. So I want to collect more information before applying for the course.

Could you please give me more details? A million thanks!

We went for the audition and the way the lesson was conducted was very much like kindermusik.  e.g. The teacher would use stuffed toys to arouse the interests of the children at the beginning, e.g. kissing each of the children with the toy. You listen to the music and pretend to dance and move like a bird or an elephant, depending on the music.....The teacher would ask the children to repeat after the teacher to sing one by one... The children would have the chance to play with different instruments, e.g. shakers or the drum....

Facility-wise, the dance studio at APA is very big but the floor was also very dirty the last time we went for the audition.  Lots of children apply for this course but as space is very limited, they have a 10 minute audition to select the most talented or musical children.  The fees seem expensive because it's a 75 min lesson.  The hourly charge is about $200 which is comparable to other similar music courses.

The course is conducted in both Cantonese and English.  I think if your child is selected, he or she would enjoy the class because if he/she didn't enjoy the audition, he or she wouldn't have been selected.
