ORT reading

my  son also loves these books.  I have been reading with him everyday since he was 2, and now he reads everyday by himself at least 3 of these a day as he wishes.  I don't have a particular method,  just very regular reading and explaining.  I think the most important thing is to develop good reading habit on anything he enjoys.  He reads anything in stage 5 to stage 9, because sometimes he likes longer stories and sometimes shorter stories.  If doesn't matter if they enjoy the easier books too as it gives them alot of confidence.  Just continue what you are doing and their reading will improve very quickly.

Strongly agree with your post. I borrow these books from the library and my son loves it a lot.

All stories from stage 5 to 9 can rouse his interest. No need to pay too much on the difficulty, whatever sounds interesting will do!

agree. . I think many parents tend to always want their kids to read more difficult books just to prove they are good readers,  but I personally think the joy of reading is much more important,  and the younger shorter books are just fun to read!

我亞b而家三歲，試左買三套stage1+，佢真係like，我諗緊一set咁買到stage 9,定係買到stage 5先，其實佢地係咪會去得好快…（唔係介意幾多錢，而係一屋都係書，擺放上開始有啲頭痕）

my son started reading these books because a friend gave him the entire set of 'Read at home'.  He would choose from this entire set (25 books i think) and read as he wishes.    After he can read this set completely by himself, I went to the library to choose all the others,  because there are so many,  and also because they it allows them to choose and change all the time. .. sometimes easy books, sometimes difficult.  If I don't have time to take him,  I just go in to grab any 8 books v quickly and leave. ... so easy.  my problem was also too many books,  but it is good to own some maybe levels 4 to 7, but too many to own all.

stage 2 to 4 is enough to start with when they are young. .. They like to repeat reading books v much so you don't actually need to buy them all

my 4 years old daughter loves the ORT - "Magic Key" so much.

Once, I bought her stage 3 - 5, she refused to read stage 1 & 2 as she said they are too simple. And I just passed those books to my friends

想同下你小孩是翻閱還是每個字精讀，然後你同他解釋書后的問題？

我會成句咁讀, 囡囡有聽唔明白會問點讀點解; 遇到唔識的字就一齊查字典(因我自己英文都唔多好)

書後的問題唔會成日問佢, 有時可能會用返廣東話問添
