香港區只得一間幼稚園, 而且將d applicants 分唔同category, 係咪好難入 ?? 有冇讀緊既家長share下及比意見, 另係咪要有錢人$$$先讀得gar ??

WRONG!!!呢間學校最多公務員子女入讀,因為, 全港最平係佢, 而且, 佢地仲有一大筆政府津貼, 真係幾乎人人都 “湧” 去讀.
因此, 有可能, 一d家庭既文化背景會差一大段路…學生質素都有大距離.
睇你係邊類, 點睇啦.
有人讀英基有幼園已經比老師點名話英文唔得 (父母公務員, 英文只是非常一般), 因此, 老師下令要小子惡補英文…
如果英文底唔好, 真係要三思, 子非你個仔第日一定會去海外升學…否則, 不要博, 到時兩頭唔到岸.
北角蘇浙係一間非常好的國際學校, 就算本地班成績同國語/英文程度都一流, 有姿勢有實際, 全港校際成績成日冠軍…勁, 平, 正!

小學課程完全可以 “接” 本地或國際學校. 安全好多.

It all depends on your child's situation.  Are you both local Chinese or westerner?  First language of the child is English or Cantonese?
We submitted the application in late Nov. 2004 and my son still got an offer for this term.  We are not 有錢人. I notice that most of the students there are Chinese with a few westerner.

Need to apply one year ahead, so when your kid reach 2 year old. Fill up the application form and post to them. It is not difficult to get a place at ESF's Kindergarten. They have no entrance test, no interview at all. They choose the student by priority ranking. English speaking student first, overseas student second then local student last. All students are based on first come first serve at the same category. Actually, no one can determine the english speaking ability for the 2-3 old kid (They just start to learn to speak). That's why no test is being conduct for entrance. So the kindergarten will select their student most likely based on first come first serve.
But you have to consider it carefully. Once your kid study at ESF's kinder. You have to provide him/her a good english environment ( The headmaster of ESF's kinder said they use English as the teaching media, it doesn't mean they are teaching your kid's English as Second language). Otherwise your kid might fail in the Primary one Admission test (Purely a Englsih test). If your kid cannot grant a place in P1. Then, you will fall into a complicated position. You are hardly to switch back to conventional Primary School. And end up with no place at ESF's P1.

Easy, providing you call them and check when is the enrolling time.  The divided in difference year of birth, just call them and they will tell you.

I think the only newer schools are the kindergartens. The elementary and secondary schools have been around for decades.

Are you referring to ESF Bauhinia School? It was supposed to be completely refurbished before its opening in 2002. According to ESF website, Bauhinia is going to be closed in Aug. 2007 when the new primary school is opening in Discovery Bay.
If the parent is only looking to apply for ESF Kindergarten as per the subject of this topic, the child will not be able to attend Bauhinia School afterall as it will be closed by the time the child is old enough to apply for ESF Primary School. One can only apply to one ESF Primary School in the ESF school zone where you are living.

It sounds great to hear the closure of Bauhinia School !! It really de-grade the image of ESF.
Yet, can u clarify the point ---" One can only apply to one ESF Primary School in the ESF school zone where you are living." --- if i am living in N.T., and i wish to allocate my son to ESF school in Shatin / Kowloon, I must migrate to that district before application.

I don't understand your logic, when considering school, you just look at the campus???  Have you seen the inside of those famous popular local schools?  Are they old or not?  How about the campus of CCKG and St. Catherine's?  Are they old and small?  I would say Yes.

Bauhinia's campus is smaller than other ESF schools, but in fact it is just a temporary campus for transition to the new ESF Discovery Bay Private school.  Other than the campus, the teaching method and teachers are as good as other ESF primary schools.  What parents look for is the software more than hardware.  

If you like new campus and good facilities, suggest you join the new Pui Kui school at Shatin, very big and new campus, low school fee, use English and Mandarin.

Besides, I think it is fair for local children to study in ESF schools as we are the major tax payers and it is very very logical for us to get  just a little bit back from the govt through education.  So don't understand your logic of wasting tax payers' money as well!  Are you local?  Why you want to apply for ESF kinder then if it is no longer a noble school and it is wasting tax payers' money????  Maybe you should join German Swiss IS or HKIS then.

ESF係用小朋友既語言作為篩選﹐如英語是第一語言俾中文為地一語言更優先﹐如家中以英語為溝通語言更優先﹐如唔讀英文學校無法入讀其他主流學校更優先﹐係咪外國人優先D唔清楚﹐但一定唔需要係有錢人。其實﹐有錢人唔會讀英基啦。

我04年4月入表﹐囡囡第一語言是英語﹐家中亦只講英語﹐05年1月收電話話收囡囡做2月插班生(因我女是1月出世﹐英基要收滿3歲)﹐我囡囡已係其他學校讀lower nursery﹐非常開心﹐我地唔想咁突然轉班﹐又唔俾我地9月先轉校﹐我地又想俾囡囡學中文﹐所以都冇接受個位。

我小小認同林嬌嬌講, 真係浪費納稅人d錢....否則, 佢唔會默認同所謂檢討...
我有個細侄現被催俗英文(正讀esf kind.), 老師認為佢英文唔得, 返學無講英文習慣, 於是老師下令要補習...
家庭英文實只是非常一般, 父母都是一句起兩句止...點會個仔英文好?????
請問各路英雄(2): 長此落去, 個0仔會否被俗得辛若, 有無前途?
好睇得出個0仔對英文無咩天份同歸屬感, 因為平時都係個老細千方百計"引"佢講, 佢先讀出個生字...

Ask your relative don't push the kid. If they really can't provide a good English's environment for the kid. If he fails in the P1 entry test. They are quite hard to find the local P1 for him. Because the academic standard for ESF kinders is quite low compare to local kinders. Honestly, my kid (K2 student) still can't write 1-10 correctly.

So, do you mean the kid will be very hard studying infuture even he can study to P1 at ESF. I agree with you that the family background is important.
My boss is British and her daughter is studying in ESF Primary. Of course she has no problem because she is british also. So I can see the difficulty of low standard English kid in ESF. Am I right????

She is in Kinder, K2 not Primary 2. The advantage for ESF Kinders is same as other international kinders.

1. No home work.
2. No pushing on the kids.
3. Kids are more creative.
4. Kids are more initiaive.

Actually, my daughter got an offered from Sacred Heart Canossian Kindergarten (sort of famous school) last year. But I found they have intensive home works and class works. Even, some of the parents told me that their kids need to take the tutorial to keep up the standard. So, I declined their offered. I believe kid must enjoy their school life happily. I already sacrifice my 11 years to the local feeding duck system. I don't want my daughter run the same path.

For your relative, as long as they can provide a good English environment for their kid. It would not be a big problem. The learning ability of the children is enormous. After one year in ESF kinder, my daughter oral English is better then me.
