Does anyone have any experience with the Small World Christian Kindergarten on Borrett road ?  If so, could you please share your view and comments.  Thanks.

Is the campus big?  I played visit last week but just had a look from outside.  Nice environment.  Share the same building with Carmel School.  
Long waiting list or easy entry?  Interview required?
What nationalities of the kids?  How many students in one class?

Small World is a wonderful kindie.  There are usually 24 kids in one class.
My kid goes to the afternoon session.  He loves it.
I heard the waiting list is very long.
most kids will go to international schools when they turn 5, mostly ESF, I guess.

Yes, the school campus is really big and beautiful and has some feeling of Europe style. As I know that the waiting list is quite long but you could submit your application form as soon as possible, some times you will have luck to be faster when some children leave HK with their families and they will stop to apply. There is an informal interview, the principal will ask to meet you and your kid, the purpose is to introduce the school to you. She is a very kind lady. Students come from difference countries, such as, U.S., U.K., France, Australia, Germany, Korea, Japan, India, China, Taiwan..... There will be around 21-22 students in 1 class. Hope these answers could help you.

How long is have to wait for the place?
Does the kindergarten only accept foreigners or English speaking children?  (as we are local Chinese, and we hope my kid can have a happy school life without so much homework burden, so we prefer him to study in an international school)

What is the quality of the teachers ?  I found that the teachers are key in any school.  Doesn't matter how good the reputation is for a school, if one has a bad teacher, everthing else goes out of the window.

Are the teachers all native english speakers ?  I found that some school claim that they have "foreign" teacher to teach english in the international class, but these teachers are actually not native english speaker.

Do they teach Mandarin ?

THe teachers are qualified teachers from Singapore, Canada, U.K.,and as I know that some came from the other International schools. They are all native English speakers. There is no Manadarin course, it is a fully english school.

As I know that you have to wait at least 4 to 6 months for reply. Yes, they will accept other non english speaking families but must know english (I mean parents). The school is very good that after 2 years you will find your child can understand very well english and also can speak good english. (Of course the child needs the fully suport in education from parents), I am sure your kid will have a very happy school life there.

Do you know what primary school their children go to after Small World?  I am targetting German Swiss which require fluency in English like a native speaker.   Do you know any non-German students there went to German Swiss ?

Most of the kids from SW will continue their primary school in ESF and other international schools.
Sorry, I do not know any one who went to German Swiss.

Hi Blythe_miki ,

They don't have a school Diary for each day, but kids will get a folder every Friday after school, there is arts papers done by themselves, notices from school was put in the folder.

There is no home work from school, they do their arts and writing (K2) in school.

There is no school bag. Very simple and easy school life.

Does the school charge any other extra fee?
I read in the website, there is no school bus, how about the "nanny bus" coverage area?  As we can't take my kid my ourself.
Moreover, my husband afraid that most students are from a rich family but we are not.  That may be a problem.

There is no extra fee. Yes, "nanny bus" is available. You could call mr. Mui Tel:9032-7434 (The nanny bus company) for some more information.
Don't worry, most of the families come from middle class and friendly, just look like me. Ha, HA....

No, there is no summer program. But you could try the Greman Sweet Int'l School, they provide summer class and is really good that I heard from my friends. You could find some more information from its web site.

German Swiss summer program is very good!! i will send my son to their summer class in this coming summer 2006 August, their program holds around 10 days.
