Heard that a few years ago, there was a student with very high PG (>43) but got no offers from Ivy League HKU CUHK (not med or law school). Finally ended up with one of the lower ranked u in HK. I think universities know a total score means nothing. They would also look at the details of the score. Some universities are so keen that they would only accept HL of a certain class (not SL). Some universities do not count English B. Some universities do not count Math Studies. Plus, universities also ask for school transcript. It can mean up to 4 years of secondary school reports. Admission process is a "basket" of different qualities of a student. A 45 is definitely brilliant, but it takes more than that to get into Oxbridge.
