Have you checked the book order from the school?  Sometimes they are on sales in single book and/or in series.

Sorry for being nosey.  But the English used in Cap. Underpants is quite rough and colloquial and the characters/story derogatory.  My boy also loves Cap Underpants but I just bought a few copies for him and often remind him not to copy anything from the books.  There are other good series at similar level:
- Andrew Lost
- Geronimo Stilton
- The Secrets of Droon
- The Spiderwick Chornicles
- The Magic School Bus Science Chapter Books
Hope your child may like them, especially No.1, 3 and 4.
