KJS is going to provide daily Mandarin lessons for P4-6 in Jan2007.

Dear EDO,

ESF = English Schools Foundation 英基
KJS = Kowloon Junior School

KJS has 2 campuses, 1 on Perth Street, Ho Man Tin and the other is on Rost Street, Yau Yat Chuen.

This is a good news for all ESF student. Hope this improvement will applied to all level ESF. This is the one and only one outstanding compare with other international school, like HKIS & CIS, etc...

But I checked with ESF website and found that they said the Mandarin will be improving, no matter the lesson time and teachers, etc...., it also will be increased in the future years.

According to the KJS newsletter, the daily Mandarin lessons will be provided to 3 ESF schools as trial run first.

Ultramother,

Due to my son is studying in K1 and transfer to QBS for Year 1 in the coming Sept. So, I am going to find some kindergarten chinese course / activities for him after school. I just call to Pro-lingual and they have K2 level chinese class, but only for KGS, Kowloon.

My kid is studying mandarin in Better Chinese. I am looking for a chinese class (either cantonese) for K2 level for him. Especially teaching him how to write chinese.

Dear Itse,

You are right that most Mandarin classes devote to speaking, certain extend to reading but not very often to writing. That's why my son is taking Mardarin and Cantonese Chinese concurrently.

As an IS student, the weighting sounds a bit too much.

KJS provides reference to Mandarin & Cantonese after school / Saturday studys. May be QBS has something like that so that some travel times can be saved.
