I am also very glad that my child can get into HKUGAPS.  It is basically a stress free school. Although the curriculum is local stream but the teaching method is very similar to an international school which is inquisitive and creative thinking basis through activities and presentation. Therefore, students have a lot of time to development their interest in other activities and confident in speaking up in public
Besides, the school is keen to train students to be a book lovers, it always organizes a lot of activities to encourage reading.I can hardly find anybody in HKUGAPS who does not like reading.

English is also  very strong is HKUGAPS as most students they selected come from a kindergarten which have solid English foundation and the student of mix culture also create natural language environment for learning different languages.

However, some parents may treat it as disadvantage as the no ranking scheme may lead to low motivation for the kids (they tend to be more free and discipline) to work hard for better score. Less memorization and dictation for Chinese make it less competitive if comparing to Chinese taught in traditional school outside

Totally agree. My girl is now studying in P2. Compared to P1, the General Studies subject is more demanding, the kids need to do research themselves (now mainly focused on books, and I guess they need to know how to search from internet in the near future), and then analyse the materials, and finally put onto poster with artwork. It is quite time consuming, as they cannot finish all during the lessons. Then they are required to present their own project. Basically, nearly all core subjects (except maths) require the kids to have reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. More importantly, they need to learn how to appreciate other classmates' work and provide recommendations. I like the values of this school and appreciate the overall teaching approach designed by the school team.

Having said that, some teachers are still very stringent on english and chinese handwriting. At the beginning I felt rigid, but the good effect is that the kids' writing really become more beautiful.  So this school has achieved a right balance, not as free as international school.

Totally agree with you.So I like this school very much.

學校在教學生做research,處理資料等，係好有系統同循序漸進。唔會好似有d學校為project而project，但根本學生無能力應付老師要求，變左全部家長做，成件事就無晒意思
港小學生由小一填窿窿，到小二要自己搵完整合，大個d用eclass上老師提供網址同資料，再大個d自己出大海搵，同埋scope，編排都要自己決定；係一路教緊學生亦一路俾緊自由佢地；所以雖然花嘅時間多，但學生會take proud of自己份功課
除左學知識，港同最令人鍾意係俾心機湊大任何一個學生。無論你讀書叻唔叻，咁多科咁多活動，一定會令學生搵到自己發光發亮之處。而老師亦唔會只俾機會模範生。亦俾足夠空間學生去學成長，同不停用生命教育教佢地做人處世之道。睇下每年適應週自訂班規就知了——唔係老師要你做，唔係用罰黎嚇到你唔敢做，係你要明白點解自己要咁做

Every kid has opportunities in the school. I remember last year my girl complained that why the naughtiest boy would get the class service award in one term. I believe the class teacher wanted the boy to settle in into the class more well , so she gave opportunity to him to make himself feel existence by others ! Rather , I think the class teacher can explain more to other kids . Anyway , most of the teachers here are full of passion and love.
