Your friend mean MPhil vs PhD ? If you can progress to PhD, why take a MPhil !!!

MPhil是研究碩士學位，傅統英制PhD第一年是MPhil，進度滿意，會向PhD進發，如果不幸最後未能取得PhD，會拿取MPhil。

MSc 較多是授課課程，不用做深入研究，部份連論文做不用做！

一般人會覺得MPhil較難！

我本人是中大MPhil 加港大PhD

（中大讀了2年MPhil , 港大3年PhD）

讀PhD 可以以下方式修讀

（1）BSc (1st hon) ---> 直接申請PhD （4年）

（2）亦可以先修MPhil, 一年後轉4年的PhD(1+3年）

(3) MPhil (2年）+ PhD (3年）

3個方法都有機會因硏究進度，而遲畢業！
