美國college有無護士課程修讀

我個女剛完成中五, 文商科, 成績麻麻, 參加美國交流生計劃, 下年回港.

她想在美國college修讀護士, 但未讀過phy. chem. bio., 又唔知有無特別要求才可申請, 應該怎樣做??? 或者無機會???唔知現在可以讀邊樣來補救???

有無人有這方面的經驗或意見, 幫幫忙!!!!

First, I would suggest, not to study nursing pre-course in NY or CA (the big states) as you said, her HKCEE is not excellent. if she goes to some other (small states), she will be earier to get into the pre-nursing course.
most of the college (2 years college) offer nursing studies, as your DTR did not study in Bio or any science subject. she needs to take all the pre-nursing course, like Maths, English, culture  studies, anatomy and physiology, psychology, fundamental of nursing etc.. that may takes her 2 years of time before she can get into nursing course, she mostly need GPA3.5-4.0 to get into nursing course, so she needs to study very very hard. Go to small states with another advantage is.. she can't always go out for fun. so, she can concentrate on her studies.
I am a nurse educator (RN) and provide mentorship in a visiting nurse organization in new york, I also a RN recruiter hiring chinese Registered Nurse.

Agent簡單地說, 澳洲讀3年, 學費比美國平HK$10萬, 吾知佢點計? 我個女會考成績吾好, 佢話都得, 要讀多半年至一年預備班, 就可以上3年大學, 預備班吾知要幾錢呢?
如果預備班讀吾掂, 就要回港, 無得讀大學了?
美國學制會吾會比較好呢? 曾經有人講, 美國會原諒成績吾好的學生, 會比機會, 只要再努力就得?

有無資料或經驗可以分享下.

That will be a discrimination if hospital did not hire her because of her height. So, don't worry about it. As long as she can turn the patient and she can handle her case loads, and do her job independently, should be fine
其實修讀護士, 有很多人都選擇澳洲, 美國與澳洲有無分別呢?
It is much harder to get the student visa in US, plus Australia is much closer to hk than US, therefore, HK ppl choose to study in Australia, I am the sample.

For Bachelor degree in Australia takes 3 years
For Bachelor degree in US takes 4 years,  but a associate degree for RN in US takes only 2 years. so the tuition fee will be different.

Foundation and ESL class are even more expensive that the tuition fee in university.
ask your agency, every university charge different.

they normally re-take the subject until they passed it. or the ppl in foundation will tell them to change to another Major. If she can not handle the subject in foundation, how she can handle the nursing subjects in University?
to get into LTU bundoora campus, entry score for nursing is as high as the entry score for achi.
Nursing is a tough subject.

美國學制會吾會比較好呢?
I have to say yes. for those who did not study hard at high school/ or not smart as others-they gave the chance for you to catch up
曾經有人講, 美國會原諒成績吾好的學生, 會比機會, 只要再努力就得?
to study in US, you can just slip into a 野雞college, then study hard, got your strict A (GPA 4.0), then transfer back to brand university, 大有人在.

no guarantee if she has no back ground about science subject, if she failed and she needs to repeat, that will not be 2 years for pre-nursing.
again, if she can do every perfect, then, 4 years is her goal. that 2年大學--is Community college- which is associate degree, if you expect that she graduated from university, that will be 4 years studies.
after that, she will take mock exam at school, after she pass it, she will join the NCLEX-RN.
If she passed it, then she will gain a license (of that state) and she can work as a RN.
係咪重有1年實習才可考取 RN牌?
No, that is not necessary. she just need to pass the NCLEX-RN, then she will have her RN license

有無同學取牌後, 可否回流香港工作呢?
From the report since 2005, none overseas nurse can pass the exam (external broad) in hk. so, you better not to expect that she can work in the HA hospital in hk, I am not so sure the private hospital will employ her either, because the law in hk, all RN/EN must practise their duty with a HK license. She may work for the health care agency or clinic which operated by the big health care group. or work in the health related job such as the RN counsellor in the cord blood company or pharma company or formula company or diaper company something like that.
However, I gonna point out something, if she graduated from US or in Australia, she is hardly to get a pass on the exam in hk, as the working environment is -- too good, she may not want to return to hk and work in the hell.
especially, salary and working environment in US, too good..  compare to HK. So, you may have to bare in mind if you let her go.. and come to study in US, don't expect or get upset if she doesn't want to return to hk.
