請家長給予寶貴意見.

我小朋友比較自我,上傳統小學不利學習,所以打算讓小朋友讀國際學校,結果幸運地給他考上了.

可惜有朋友對我說,小朋友將來長大,若果計劃出外讀大學的話,"結果"都是大學畢業,根本無須花13年錢讀國際學校,他們覺得沒有必要.我很是疑惑,真是沒有過程,只是結果嗎?

我"倒轉頭"想 ==> 讀國際小學/中學,再上本地大學,都可以吧?!香港傳統教學,老師講的,你都要跟隨,老是困在盒子裡去思考,學生不敢發問問題,變成有問題都不會去問....若果從小就教育他,跳出盒子外去想(Think out of the box),不是更好嗎?

1. "結果"都在大學畢業,沒有分別! 真的嗎?
2. 在國際學校完成中小學,再駁本地大學,會否有點.....可惜   (抱歉,用可惜可能不太貼切,但又不懂用其他文字去形容!!)?
3. HK一眾大學跟外國大學,真的比不上嗎? (當然明牌子如劍橋,哈佛另計)

What a comment!  So for all people, the ending is the same as we all will die one day!  So conclusion:  no need to spend one penny!

How do you want to spend the money?  What kind of persons do you want the kids to be?  Do you just want a good looking certificate from a well-known U afterall?

there are more to consider:
-money,
-chinese standard,
-mood of thinking,
...

realy need to think carefully,
it is your child, not others' child.

From the way you asked for sharing, I can feel you have already known the answers.

Go ahead for IS, you should enjoy it or you deserve to enjoy it.

Local U of course not bad, CU and HKU are prestige in SE Asia or even the world. But study abroad, stay away from parants umbrella would have different learning experiences, working independently.

You could think the other way round:

1.  If a child cannot go to the overseas (or any) university for some reasons, studying in international school would be valuable experience.  

2.  If a child goes to overseas university at the end of the day with local school background, that child MAY (of course may be not - I am sure) need to take some time to get used to overseas learning environment and more importantly that child MAY have strong tendency to go into Chinese circle (Whether it is good, all depends on your value judgement.).   Then the result is that there is no difference to that child to attend local and overseas university.  

3.  Just personal view - going to which university or studying what subjects at univesity, as a parent, my job has two-folds - sponsor the tuition fee and give some advice - and that is!!  So, as parent, we need to consider is what education our child should have when they cannot make any choice!!

多謝各位寶貴意見.

已打算小學/中學將小朋友送到國際學校,大學到時再算.我覺得小朋友讀國際學校,對他們和家長絕對是一件愉快的事.眼見親友的子女,無論是在出名的還是不出名的學校,功課量之多簡直令我嚇壞,考不到90分以上需要見家長………
不是有句”學習不是求分數”的嗎?
