Any parent's kid is studying in Woodland ?  Especially the one in Wanchai.  Can you share experience and opinions with us ?

My daughter is studying in Woodland (Mid-level) since 2005 and she will be transferred to Wanchai after the Easter Holiday.  It is because the traditional teaching approach (teacher lead) is suitable for her instead of the Montessori (child lead).  So it depends on your child's personality.  However, under the Montessori teaching, she is quiet independence and mature.

I am considering the mid level woodland for my girl as well. (I have visited the school and found it good). Can you share more about your girl's school life and comments about this school? Thanks very much

It's excellent for the playgroup and stepping stone classes if your daughter in Ms Rosie's class.  

For the pre-school class, you should consider your daughter's personality (e.g. outgoing and aggressive) is suitable for the montessori teaching approach or not.   Otherwise, the traditional teaching approach (UK system) is better.

Her school life is not very good as she mentioned that she was boring and nothing to do at school (same feeling with others schoolmates).  So that's why she should transfer to Wanchai Pre-school .

My two grils are attending woodland's wriggler (1y3m) and playgroup (2y2m), my elder daughter will start K1 in 2008, I am still thinking about letting her continue in woodland or changing to ESF, can you give me some advice. Many thanks~!

My son will attend woodland's playgroup when he is 1.5 yrs old.  You said that your daughter is attending wriggler, I cannot find it from the website (or did I overlook any info?).  Can you let me know the details of it (such as the frequency, time, fee).Thank you.

May be it is not provided in all woodland pre-schools. We go to Woodland (Mid-levels), for wrigglers, they have lesson every Tue and/or Thur 8:30a.m. no other choice, $1500 for 8 sessions. For playgroup, my girl goes every Mon, Wed and Fri, 10:35a.m. $2900 per month.

It depends on your child's personality, if she is very aggressive and mature, the montessori teaching approach is better than traditional one.  

Moreover, if you really let her to go the Woodland Montessori (Mid-Level) for the pre-school class. please don't choose "Mrs Sunita & Ms Alice" class (English class) because they have not solid experinece enough in Montessori teaching.

For ESF, it's a good idea and higher priority to go in ESF primary school.  However, you should consider that there a lot of Chinese rather than English Native Speakers.  I met one of the students in ESF, his english standard is not very well but he can pass the interview for ESF.

thank you for your info.  My son will go to the same Woodland as you, which is the mid-level one.  It seems 8.30 am is too early for him!  He is still    (and so do I!)  It seems he has to wait until 18 months la!

Can I ask you is there any rest/snack time for playgroup because it last for 1.45 hours which is quite long.

There is snack time. the rundown is your kid will play for a while in the playground until the teacher call them go into the classroom. Then they will start the registration and count the number of students present. After that they will do some craft work , they call it work time. After work time there will be the snack time and after snack they can play in the playground again and finally there will be story time and that is almost the end of the lesson. Don't worry for the time, they won't feel tire because they don't have time to. You better well prepare that you would be the one who feel tire like me, haha...

YOu mentioned that Sunita and Alice do not have solid experience in Montessori teaching and Rosie is good.  Do you think I can choose teacher?  I have already submitted the applicatoin form to Mid-level Woodland, he will start playgroup twice a week in September.  

By the way, I am still thinking shall he attend playgroup 2 times or 3 times a week, do you have any comment?  Any major difference?

Hi ckbee,

Rosie is the playgroup teacher, Sunita and Alice are the pre-school teachers.  You can ask the school supervisor to let your child in Rosie Class.  2 or 3 times a week is no different but my daughter attended twice a week at the beginning.
