want to apply Bauhinia School year 2, Any comment, Please share

I want my dauthger to apply Bauhinia School for year 2 in coming term ( Sept  2007 ) , please kindly share your comment.


Do you know if the school will teach Chinese in Manadrin twice a week.  Do you know how long I have to wait for admission ? Is it a long waiting list in this grade?

It will change to Discovery Bay Private Independent School by Sept 07, cirriculum using IB from primary to secondary, and will have more Mandarin, just like Renaissance.

Its new campus in Discovery Bay will be completed by Sept 08.

I live in near Bauhinia School in Lai King. Do you know if the school move to Discovery Bay. How to get there and any school bus? Perhaps, to apply another school  ( for Sept  2007 Yr1 or Next year )e.g :RC, ESF....etc.

They should have school bus to DB, but no details yet.  You can of course apply other schools as you like, depending on vacancies.

Sorry, I don't know too much, I can only tell that currently it is Bauhinia School, curriculum same as other ESF schools, and it is very good.  From April onwards, the new principal will start the work of DBPIS and will release more info. later.  The new curriculum is same as RC.

The difference from RC is mainly the students.  As you know, DB's residents are mostly westerners.  In future, DBPIS should accept more local people.

What I know is that DBPIS would basically be a copy of RC, just smaller in size and better.  I am not saying RC is not good  - in fact RC is very good, but with the "RC experience", I am sure there would be improvements, especially the hardware of the school (ie school building and facilities etc.). Also, both RC and DBPIS would be a complete IB school.

I am almost sure you can switch back to the new DBPIS from RC since I know that ESF students are allowed to switch school at the moment if there are vacancies. The present situation with ESF schools might make it almost impossible since most places are taken up. But obviously there would be more available places at the new school when the construction of the school is completed. It should be quite easy to switch during the first year. You can tell by looking at the RC example - quite some children switched from other ESF schools to RC last (this) year.

I am not sure if there are spaces in DBPIS, it is different from RC as now they have all primary classes filled up already and there will be no expension in classes after moving to DB (they only have 3 classes per level).  There will of course be some in and out when some expats leave.  For secondary, there will be more spaces.

RC and DBPIS are same PIS, why do you like to switch RC to DBPIS? Do you feel closely distance or DB's residents are mostly westerners, so do you feel this is better for  Language enviroment ?
Now I'm consider the transportation is so far away to DBPIS. But RC is OK!How about you?

It is just because DB is near to my house.  
In fact, I won't appreciate only if there are more foreigners in DBIS.  I prefer students with similar background, goal and learning habit in a school.

this school will close coming Sept.  It will be the temp. school for DBPIS.  So you can't apply this school anymore.  All the student from Bauhinia will send to different ESF school to continue.

No, most Bauhinia's students will continue to study in the new DBPIS in 07/08.  Some will transfer to other ESF schools.

The new DBPIS will have Mandarin 3 or 4 classes per week.

No. DBPIS is still a construction site at the moment and it is almost impossible to complete it in 2 months time. My understanding is that the building will be used in 08/09. Therefore first year students will have to take the class in Bauhinia for entire 07/08.

The closing of Bauhinia is merely a change of name but the class still run in the same premise.

Switching school may be possible from RC to DBPIS as they are running from the same organization. Switching school from other ESFs to DBPIS is different. You basically have to file the new application just like others.
