<1. After she complete the kinder in K3, what grade should she apply for the IS?>
It depends on which school you want to apply to. It is best to check the age-grade cross reference of each school
<2. She will complete K3 in June 2009. When can I apply the school for her?>
In view of the current high demand for IS spaces, you should apply as soon as possible.
<3. I believe the competition to apply IS is very keen nowadays. Will the school put lower priorty for the application of the student from local kinder?>
Yes. Usually the highest priority will be given to those applying from overseas. Second priority will be be given to those coming from an International Kindergarten where children cannot fit in to local primary schools. Children from local kindergartens are in the third, and unfortunately, lowest priority.
<4. What is the difference between GCE & IB?>
GCE is the British system, and IB is a more internationally accepted curriculum. There are differences in the teaching methodoly between the two. Perhaps other parents can give more details about these similarities and differences, as my son is in neither system.
<5. Any useful website to provide more information about IS?>
The website http://www.shambles.net provides a complete listing of International Schools in Hong Kong. There are also discussion threads on http://www.geobaby.com.
