Any comments on Anfield playgroup vs Nottingham Toddler Fun? They both accept toddlers from 1.5yrs and last for 2 hrs for each lesson. The fee of Nottingham seems cheaper and the facilities are more new. For Anfield, it is an int'l kindergarten and provides 15min Putonghua in each lesson. How you will choose? Thanks!

What is the next steps? I wonder?

Local or International Kinder?

My son went to Nottingham long time ago, it is quite good. But they don't have kinder.

He is now in Anfield and he like it so much!

I will also have my 18 mos daughter attend the playgroup class (twice a week). Let me tell you how it goes.

Hi MarcusD, Maria,

Thanks for your response.

In fact I'm still headaching whether to let my son to enter local or int'l kinder. What I'm thinking now is to put him to Anfield playgroup first. If I decide to let him study int'l kinder, then he can stay in Anfield. If I decide to opt for local kinder, then we'll send application nearer the time. My boy is now 1 yr old, I may apply for Anfield's Toddlerobics for him in the next term. For Nottingham, I've heard that kids can learn good self-discipline there.

I once visited Anfield and found the campus was quite old and messy, but the staff were nice. What are your comments towards Anfield.

Hello ryan_mom.
My thought is simple - we have determined to go to IS.
In fact Anfield's campus is okay. I can tell you I have visited Starters in wanchai, ICS in FoTan. They are more or less the same. Of course, if we compare between Tutor time, Kingston, they would lose. My concern is the effectiveness and friendiness: ))

Hi ryan_mom.
I remember to get back to you or those interested in knowing Anfield playgroup after our first week's experience.
We study in a 2-day-a-week playgroup class.
There is one class teacher - Mr. Robert.
In our class, there are 9 toddlers.
The ratio is 1:9 in our case.
The language throughout the 2-hour programme is strictly restricted to English (except in between there is a 15-minute mandarin teaching by a native speaker).
This requirement not only teacher to student, teacher to aunties and mammies but also aunties to aunties/mammies, aunties/ mammies to students.
Hence the teacher would say "English, please." if he has heard somebody say "tse tse".
The atmosphere is very relaexed, and fast-pace. The teacher Robert would not force the toddlers to sit down properly.
He will let them unless there is a very serious disruption to the class.
The teacher we have now is caring to the tots, and is patient to them.
Teacher Robert is very experienced and always share his views and hints on raising, take care and teaching a child with mammies.
On the first day, half of the tots are accompanied by mammies (4-5 out of nine students).
On the second day, it dropped to 1-2 only (me and another one with granny).
Before the class officially starts, there is a free play time in the front playground.
There are a lot of kindergarten students who is indians, caucasians and Hong Kong families and all of them in English in fluent manner.
Including the parents. I am impressed that the daddy is speaking to his daughter in English all times even though they are alone.
Of course, I myself also speak in English to my little one.
The kindergarten students look very happy and naive.
I have even come across some k1 students approaching us (me and my daughter to have a chat) in washroom.
I personally would think the school offers a good and happy environment to their students.

Dear Ryan Mom,

Nice to meet you here and know that your child is now studying in Teacher Robert's class; my boy is attending the playgroup every Mon/Wed/Fri at 8:30am - 10:30am.  As I am a working mother, my maid always goes with my boy.  So that I know my boy's performance from the maid.  Heard from my maid, Anfield/Teacher is good, my son becomes active in terms of not being shy and willing to make friends with his classmates.  Certainly, I will attend the class with my son  for the following weeks.   Which date/time class your child attend.  Hope see you there.

Dear Iristony625.

I should have my name put at the bottom of last two mails - My name is Maria/ YY FUNG / wing-wing mama. : )))

Sorry for confusions.

My daughter is attending Tuesday and Thursday classess, from 8:30 am - 10:30 am.
If you are there in the following weeks , it would be very good.
I cannot join in week of 15/1 and 17/1, and my sister-in-law helps me. (She is the one taking care my daughter when I work).
I will join her on 22/1 and 24/1 again.

I originally want to enroll 3-day-a-week class BUT they have no seats very soon.

Thank you.
Maria

Hi mommies,

After reading all your sharing and the Mingpao interview, I think I will stick to Anfield. I will put my son in Toddlerobics first in the next term (hope I can secure a place as it gets full so quick) and then enrol in playgroup the next next term when he turns 1.5 yr old. Hope our little can become classmates . Thanks again!

At the moment my son is attending the playgroup (only 1 hr a week) offered by Kid's Gallery. It's quite interesting too.

Dear Maria,
Sorry for my confusion.  As I will not accompany my boy to attend all of the lessons, your experience would be highly appreciated.
Dear Ryanmom,
My boy had attended the Toddlerobics when he was 1 year-old and now is attending the Playgroup.  I can share my own experience with you about the Toddlerobics.
The Toddlerobics is a 45-min class.  There are max 8 children in a class.  At the beginning, the teacher will sing different songs and distribute the toys to all children.  Then, the teacher will initiate the children to do exercise, such as jumping, clapping, dancing, stretching and walking.  Displine is encouraged, e.g. putting back the toys to the place.  After completing the class, my boy has improved that he sat down in some conrner during the first few lessons (maybe he is a shy boy and new to the environment), afterwards, he started to dance, clap the hand etc.  He enjoyed very much.  Now he attends the playgroup, he still remembers where the toddlerobics classroom is; more important, he enjoys the school life.  Hope it is useful.
Iris

Hi Iris,

Thanks for your sharing. I would like to know whether the places of Toddlerobics will be filled up very fast. I called and asked them about the application time for the nexct term and they told me to keep checking the website. I'm afraid I'll miss it.

Dear Ryan Mom,

For my case, I kept checking the website.  Once the information over the website was updated, I called an office and sent my appplication immediately.  Don't worry, it is not too difficult to get a seat.
