How to apply St.Swithun's school in hk

問過AA, 佢話要直接同學校申請，然後學校會寄考試卷到AA, 而AA just serve as an invigilation centre for the exam and charge HK$1000 as the invigilation fee regarding the exam,是否間間agent 都一樣做法呢？我見香港考試局都可代辦這學校的entrance test, 有冇家長試過呀？

你可以直接apply  St Swithun's ,再叫佢地寄份卷到你小朋友間學校或者你可以叫佢地寄份卷到british council,然後係british council到做卷.

British Council HK charged $2,375 for a two-session examiantion invigilation fee which is much expensive than the fee charged by AA.  You'd better consider mail the exam paper to your son's school which is most cost effective.  

My elder son had paid for more than $10,000 to British Council HK for the exams conducted in British Council.  If the school has agency in HK, it is better to approach agency rather than writing to school direct.

I am also thinking of asking British Council to invigilate an admission exam for my kid.  I called them up and they told me the cost is HK$1,200 for a 3 hour session plus a courier charge of HK$250.  For 2 sessions totalling 6 hours, the total cost would be HK$2,375.http://www.britishcouncil.org/hongkong-exams-professional-and-academic-exams-entrance-exams.htm

You paid them more than HK$10,000.  Did you pay for other charges and if so, what are they?

Other than fees charged by British Council, you have to pay registration fee and entrance exam fee for each school.

Since most schools I applied like Oundle, Kings Canterbury etc could be applied via AA, I think I should have applied these schools via AA instead of paying over $10000 to British Council.

佢始終係傳統D既女校，D女仔都來自old forest old rich family, 前幾年都吾收海外學生既，中國人學生少之又少，D鬼妹純過蒸餾水，校風好嚴，冬天時吾准出學校，因4：30分放學時已天黑了，安全起見，吾准出去，高年級的夏天一個星期准出校入城一次，低年級的週末由社監帶出去，平時社監同家長都好多溝通。學校公開試成績好，高年級的壓力幾大，家姊係讀得書既都話辛苦，家長日見老師，老師要求都好高。低年級的無乜嘢，呀妹日日儍下傻下又一日。我表妹一月時考佢y12,都考吾入，話個試好難。呀女話當時考入學試都好難，roeaden school 的就好易。

學校好細，無幾個中國人，多數識，不過吾同house,可能少聯絡，加上佢哋分班又分tier ,所以好難好熟

I have sent an e-mail to St. Swithun's School recently about the application procedure.  The registrar replied that candidates should be age appropriate when applying to that particular Form.  My daughter is studying in a local school and her age is two months greater than the UK applicants.  

This makes me very puzzle.  Can NLai and other parents please enlighten me.

Also, is the exam papers for overseas students are the same as the Common Entrance Exam for UK students?

HK local school students are generally 1 year older than their UK counterpart because they enter primary school 1 year older (age 6 rather than age 5). So when they move to the UK, they have to skip 1 year if they are to be age appropriate (P5 to Year 7, F1 to Year 9....etc). The exceptions are those who are small kids in local school - those born after September a year late.
International school students, on the other hand, are already age appropriate as they start primary school at age 5, same as the UK students.

i generally feel good about st. swithun's.  may i ask whether it is better or the top local schools in HK e.g. DGS, SPCC, is better?  also any comments how it compares against CLC and Brighton College.

我覚得每个人喜好吾一様，我个女都考到CLC但佢吔鈡意St Swithun 件校服，爸爸鈡意st Swithun 学校环境，始终要讀几年，排名同成绩，吾会係單一考虑因數，况且Brighton CLC st Swithun 成績差吾多啦，讀几年，總会有上上下下，学校照顾得好吾好，同学好吾好，好似係日日要面对的
