Charterhouse or Whitgift School ?

My son got the offer (year 9) from Charterhouse and Whitgift respectively.   The boarding of Whitgift was new but the boarding size is small.  The dealine to accept the offer is 12.12.2013.

On the other hand, the Charterhouse offer the placement for my son in 2015 as they advise my son to stay in Hong Kong for one more year until he reached the age of 13.  Also, the school invited my son to sit for the Foundation Scholarship at Charterhouse.   

It is a very difficult for me to make the choice.    Please kindly advise.  Thank you.

My friend's son graudated from Charterhouse this year.  His son had studied there since year 9 or year 10.  Their overall comments on this school was very good, especially the academic achievement.

Congratulations.  I am delighted to learn about this.

By the way, is that the UK age requirement or just Charterhouse's?  If it is the latter's, why it is so?

I don't know much about Whitgift but learn that Charterhouse is a dream school for many parents, including those in the UK.  If you son's aspiration is to go Oxbridge, education under Charterhouse may be a plus. Haha, I am sure you know more than me.

Thank you for your advice.

From my understanding, it is the requirement of Charterhouse only.  The school strongly believe that it is much better for boys to be in the right year-group  and benefit academically from having more time to mature.  So, the school advise us do not rushing ahead.

prefer a school that is outside london than inner london
the environment is so much better

To me, if I come all the way to study in UK, I wanted a very different environment for him to experience. Where Whitgift is a inner-city school, compare to Charterhouse in the countryside

Also, the history of the school is important. particularly for boarding schools
